"How are you feeling?" Daniel asked his student
"Like I wanna get on the mat already" Halley said with the biggest smile as she stretched her arms, there was only a few minutes before her last fight would start "I'm excited"
"That's good" Daniel stared at her for a second too long as nostalgia hit him, it felt like it was yesterday that he was teaching 7-year-old Halley and Sam how to properly throw a kick and now his niece was fighting in the finals of the biggest Karate championship in the world "Regardless of what happens out there, I'm so proud of you Halley. We all are" he unknowingly reinforced his daughter's words from earlier. Halley nodded as she threw her arms around her uncle
"Thank you, for teaching me karate and for always being there" she whispered, Daniel squeezed her against him and they were only separated by Gunther's voice through the speakers
"Ladies and gentlemen, please find your seats" Everyone rushed to do so and the students fell to their places, Halley in front of her team, across the mat from Tory, Miguel and Johnny "The girls' final match will begin momentarily."
"Remember your balance out there, Halley" Daniel reminded the girl, leaning forward. Daniel knew the team wasn't winning but his student still had a chance and that made his heard full
"Who is ready for karate?" There were cheers from everywhere around the arena "Our championship bound will follow the same structure as our semifinals. Three rounds, two minutes each, with unlimited scoring. Knockdowns are worth ten points, and if a downed fighter cannot reengage within ten seconds, they will be considered knocked out and their opponent awarded 20 points. The individual title goes to the competitor who scores the most points over these three rounds." Halley felt a hand squeeze her shoulder, she turned to find her boyfriend looking down at her with the most full of love smile she'd ever seen
"You're gonna ace this, I know it" so much confidence spilling from his words, he leaned forward catching her lips in a kiss that erased the world around them for a couple seconds
"And now, the final match to determine our female world champion. Please come to the mat, Tory Nichols of Cobra Kai" Halley politely clapped along "And Halley LaRusso from Miyagi-do" Tory did the same from her place on the mat as her opponent took her place "Good luck to you both" Both fighters nodded at each other, small smirks pulling at their lips, no animosity just competitiveness
"Fighters, face me. Bow. Each other, bow. Fighting stances" the both fell back on them, Tory's so offensive, Halley the complete opposite, clearly they were both going with what they felt more comfortable with "Ready? Fight!" Halley didn't attack first obviously, it was the blonde who did and she was already expecting it so Halley with calculated precision sharply blocked them, Tory got too close and Halley saw an exposed chest, faking an attack to her face Tory didn't see Halley's kick coming "Point" that made the blonde take a step back, hands closed in a fist, Halley's opened in a knife-like motion as she waited for her opponent to come at her again, which she did. Halley anticipated the strike to the face but not the double kick Tory performed, the one aimed at her chest she blocked but when immediately the kick was aimed to her face she didn't cover it "Point!" Now it was Halley who took a step back, putting some distance between the two to be able to recover and go back on her stance. Taking Tory out of her comfort zone now it was Halley who attacked first, she launched forward, Tory tried to hit her, she covered with her forearms and sneaked a hand under Tory's attack, right in the middle of her chest "Point!" Tory tried to kick, Halley defended with her right leg, quickly putting it down and using it as support to spin and land a kick on Tory right above her waistline with her left "Point" Tory came back at her like a storm, so quick Halley had barely time to cover everything. Halley sent a punch that Tory deflected using a Miyagi-do technique and while her arm was extended she used it to pull Halley forward making her stumble and leaving her side exposed for her "Point" Halley regained her balance as quick as she could, but not enough Tory swiped her legs from under her "Knockdown"
