Eli had instructed Halley to go home and get pretty but comfortable because they were going on a date and so she did, she arrived home racked her closet for something that she was feeling like wearing that day, she settled for a long light blue skirt a white tank top and a matching baby blue and white cardigan on top of it, the outfit finished by a pair of white sandals. She took her time in the shower as she reminisced on the day she just had, she stood under the stream of water with a big smile on her face, very proud of what she had achieved. Her makeup was light and she curled her hair in loose waves and she finished just in time to hear her boyfriend ring the doorbell.
When Eli told her to put on a blindfold and that he'd be driving she was skeptical yet there was something in the way he was looking at her and the slight nervousness and eagerness she saw in his eyes that made her accept, that wasn't without a bit of banter on the way to whatever they were going. The had been driving for a while before she felt the car stop
"We're here?"
"Yep" he answered shortly as she heard him unclasp his seatbelt
"Can I take this thing off now?" her hands were already reaching for the blindfold but Eli grabbed them and put them back in her lap
"Nope" his door opened "Give me a second and I'll come get you" all the secretiveness was making Halley just want to see where they were even more, but she didn't wanna ruin whatever he was planning so she held still. She felt the backdoor open and shuffling around back there and then it closed again and it was a few minutes before her door opened and immediately Halley felt the salty smell of the beach which made her smile instantly, she loved the beach. Eli knew that, he also knew she would recognize where they were immediately so when he saw her smile he couldn't help but do it along with here "I'll help you out" He grabbed her hand with one of his, the other one resting on the top of the car to prevent her from hitting her head. As soon she was out the breeze hit her as Eli guided her forward, her feet made contact with the soft sand, she was using her other senses to enjoy the small moment until they came to a halt "You can take the blindfold off now" Eli had stepped away from her to be able to see her reaction when she saw the date. The blindfold fell from Halley's eyes and she took a second to get used to the brightness before they focused on the beautiful view in front of her, Eli had timed it perfectly so that when they arrived the full sunset would be in display the pink and orange hues embracing them and Eli swore Halley was shining under the light, too mesmerized with the sunset it took Halley a few seconds to realize that was not the only thing she should be looking at
"Oh, my god" if it was even possible, her smile widened as she looked down at the sand. A full picnic set up for them, a basket with what she assumed was food, a small bottle of champagne a vase with tulips inside right in the middle and in the corners of the blanket there were candles inside of lanterns to keep them lighted up even with the breeze
"What do you think?" Eli was nervous, he wanted everything to be perfect and even if the idea for that specific date he'd had for a while, most of what it ended up being was improvised last minute and he wanted everything to be perfect down to the smallest detail, Halley loved the beach, she loved food, she was a romantic and the dinner at the light of the sunset fit that category, he didn't put his hair up in his characteristic mohawk because he knew she liked how it looked down, he wore white because he's seen her staring at him more when he wore the color, he knew Halley maybe even more than he had realized before planning the date
