Birthday drama 💔

Zander was never one to talk about his birthday.

He'd answer the question 'when is your birthday' but other than that, he never discussed it.

Not his birthday on previous years, not when his birthday was upcoming, never.

Maybe that was his mistake.

Because now he's sitting in his room, alone.

It's eight O'clock at night

And nobody had even mentioned his birthday to him.

He'd gone through his day.

As normal.

Did his chores, had just.. dinner. No special dinner, nothing.

Nobody said happy birthday.

Not even his own mother.

That was fine, it was whatever.

...but even his boyfriend hadn't sent him anything other than a simple good morning text and a 'ilysm'.

Needless to say he felt alone.

He made himself a birthday cake,

A vegan one.

Because he intended on sharing it with Luke.

But that plan seems far out the window now.

He picked up his fork as he took a piece from the full cake.

He hadn't even managed to light the candles he bought himself, because his lighter was out of fuel.

It's fine, he was too old for birthday wishes anyways.

He took a bite, but then teared up slightly.

How childish.

He wiped his tears as he set the plate down and covered his mouth as he chewed.

He wasn't hungry anymore.

He felt his phone buzz beside him.

A glimmer of hope was evident as he reached for his phone.

He was half disappointed when he saw what it was.

On one hand, it was not Luke.

But on the other, someone had wished him a happy birthday.

Tears came to his eyes again as he opened the message.

He watched as the typing bubble came up, and went away, for around 6 minutes before eventually.

He just laid on the bed as sir meowington crawled up and pawed at his chest, confusion and worry evident in his eyes.

Zander just covered his eyes with his arm as he let out a long sigh. Bringing up his other to gently scratch sir meowingtons chin.

Going to bed early didnt seem like a half bad idea, did it?

Luke sat in his room, just scrolling through his phone when all of a sudden, his notifications began to explode.

Zander sat depressed underneath his blanket.

How embarrassing.

He spent so much time baking.

So much time looking forward.

So much time theorising gifts,

And now it was in shambles.

His 18th birthday.

His 'most important' birthday.

And it was ruined.

He could feel sir meowingtons paws gently making biscuits on the blankets ontop of him.

Maybe his cat was all he needed.

He wasn't sure why Luke not remembering hurt more than his mother not remembering.

But it just did.

..was he really that forgettable..?
