Since the 1970's the Skarloey Railway has slowly been expanding its lines. One of the biggest expansions was when the SKR bought back the line to the MOD base. In this universe, the MOD uses this area for years until the early 1990s. The base was seen as unnecessary surplus and was closed. Mr. Roger Sam was able to buy the line after a few donations from the Sudrian elite and an incredibly lucrative fundraiser. Since the line had doubled in length, they needed a few more engines to work the line. Bertram was a welcome addition to the fleet, but they still needed two or three more engines. One solution to the problem was to build a double fairlie. Some plans for one were borrowed from the Ffestiniog Railway and the men in the workshops set to work. It took a few months for the engine to be built. The engine steamed out of the workshops in November of 1999. Since it was a double fairlie, there were two faces on either side of the engine. The names that were chosen for them were Mighty Sage and Machiavellian. Since that was such a mouthful, most people call them Mighty Mack. After they entered service, Duke ceased to be the largest engine on the SKR. For a while, they helped Duke with the larger trains. Then after another extension down to the old wharf at Balladwail, they mainly worked out of that area. Mighty, or Mike, is the more agreeable of the two. He is usually very friendly with most engines he meets. Mack, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired. The best way to describe his attitude is similar to Sir Handel. Despite those small character flaws, they both have a strong work ethic. Unlike most of the engines on the SKR, Mighty Mack had multiple derailments in their early days. This was due to a flaw in the Fairlie design that was never rectified.
