098. IF SAVING YOU IS THE LAST THING I DO

Chapter ninety eight

"If saving you is the last thing I do." 

The next morning, they were walking through the woods as Damon was whistling "your in a surprisingly good mood?" Beatrix questioned "because we are getting out." Damon shared, putting his arm around her "you do remember what you were like when I first met you, right? You lied, you cheated, all to get what you want. So what makes you think Kai's actually gonna let us all walk out of here and second what if this is like a professor Shane situation and there's no rule spell and me and Kai have to hold hands to do it and he kills me anyways?" Beatrix asked "why in every scenario you come up with recently your always dying?" Damon asked her.

"Because everyone else I've cared about has died on me and for once I'd like for it to be myself opposed to everyone else." Beatrix shared "well, I will kill Kai and anyone who comes in the way of us going home." Damon shared, holding the stick out, Kai walked up to them "I heard my name. All good I hope." he shared, looking through the ascendant "the eclipse will happen directly overhead in perfect alignment with the gemini constellation. You need to dig into the tunnels below us. We'll do the spell there." Kai shared "why exactly?" Beatrix asked "have you never portal jumped through an eclipse before?" Kai asked.

"No. We haven't." Beatrix told him "ok. Look. The light of the eclipse will shine down and activate the ascendant. You spat a little witchy woo and then poof! Anyone standing in the circle of light holding the ascendant goes home." Kai shared "witchy woo? You mean the spell that you need me to cast to even get your ass out of here? Speaking of which, how about you even tell me what it is?" Beatrix asked "when the time comes." Kai told her, walking off between her and Damon "where you going?" Damon asked "into town. I need to gather some important supplies." Kai shared, walking off, and as he did, Damon threw the stick down and grabbed the pickaxe near by and slammed it into the ground.

Where soon Beatrix was leaning against a tree listening to Damon dig, Beatrix gasped "what happens if instead of digging the hole to the cave? He's instead having you dig your own grave or mine!" she voiced, as Damon huffed tired of hearing her whole, were gonna die talk, as he slammed the pickaxe into the ground breaking through "looks like I got back just in time." Kai shared, standing behind Beatrix, Damon sped out of the hole and grabbed his bag "zima, grunge, every Alex Rodriguez rookie card in demand, and a pager. Really?" he asked, throwing it down on the ground.

"Five five five hiya Kai. No way I'm giving those digits up." Kai shared "these were the important supplies you needed to get?" Damon asked "look. The future sounds great, all right? I'm super excited about the internet, but 1994 has been my home for most of my life. I'd hate to get homesick. So let's get down there." kai shared, as Beatrix pushed off the tree "no. Spell first then we go into the hole." she shared "ok." Kai told her, putting his hands in his pockets, he smiled "are we literally not going anywhere?" Damon asked, as Beatrix smiled "you don't want to show me the spell that's fine then I won't do it. But I've just dealt with people who've tried to take my magic so here.." she shared, holding her hands out to him "take it." she said.

"Uh oh. She's being brave." Kai said "no, no, this is me showing you that I don't care about your threat because as I've said, I know guys like you, you use the teenage witch for her power and then you throw her away like she doesn't matter so I'm just trying to speed up the process. So if your gonna take my power just do it already!" Beatrix voiced "don't mind if I do." Kai told her, putting his hands on her arms, Beatrix gasped "Beatrix?" Damon asked her, and as he did, Beatrix didn't say anything as her eyes began to glow red, as Kai continued to take her power "hey, Beatrix. Whoa, hey, guys. Stop!" Damon voiced, as Kai let Beatrix go.

The two looked at each other, as Beatrix took a deep breath "exactly what I thought. He can't tell me the spell. Not because he doesn't want to but because he doesn't know it." she shared, holding her hand up, she ripped his heart out of his chest as it went into her hand, Kai's body fell over "no! No! Beatrix!" Damon voiced, as Beatrix threw Kai's heart down, and turned walking off.

Beatrix was then sitting in the woods with her grandmother's book in her hand and the ascendant in the other and as she went to flip the pages, having Kai's blood on her hands, the pages seemed to flip themselves where it opened up right to this ascendant contraption drawn on the page "hmm. Remember when I said I thought my grandmother talking about the eclipse was about you?" she asked "yeah?" Damon asked her "well I think why the memory is so vague because I've actually met Kai Parker before." Beatrix shared.

"I think Kai might've taken too much from your Beatrix. Your starting to sound a little loopy cause if you met him in 1984, you would've been three.." Damon shared, but then remembered what Qetsiayh told him and Stefan how she was born a hundred years ago "I think something happened. Something bad." Beatrix shared, closing her eyes, the ascendant opened in her hand, as she opened them "he can't kill me. Because I was the only way he was getting out of here." she realized, standing up, she walked over to the hole "whoa. Where you going?" Damon asked, as Beatrix looked to him "down the rabbit hole. You coming?" she asked, as Damon looked at her with wide eyes.

Standing down in the hole, the eclipse had come, as Damon was watching her, Beatrix cut her hand with the ascendant and put her blood onto it, closing her eyes, a gust of wind began to come, as the ascendant opened, she then opened her eyes "come on, it's time to go." she told him, as Damon stepped towards her and into the light, he put his hand under her's "like this?" he asked "uh huh." Beatrix told him, but as she did, she thought about everything they had been through and she had this sickening feeling that when they got out he would go back to Elena "Damon.." she told him, but as she did an arrow then shot her in the chest, as she flew back, the ascendant fell out of her hand.

As Damon turned around, he saw Kai with a crossbow "forgetting someone?" he asked, as Damon's eyes went wide "did you really think I hadn't tried to kill myself before?" Kai asked, as Beatrix groaned, Damon turned and looked at her "because I had, lots of times, lots of ways." Kai shared, reloading the crossbow, as Damon turned to him "but having my heart ripped out of my chest would have to be a first." Kai shared, as Damon looked to the ascendant "grab that, and the next arrow goes in her heart. Your choice." Kai threatened "Damon.." Beatrix told him, as Damon sped over to her "no, no, Damon.." Beatrix told him.

"I got you." Damon told her, ripping the arrow out, he bit into his wrist "no, Damon, please!" Beatrix voiced, as Kai ran for the ascendant, Kai picked it up as Damon sped toward's him, slamming him into the wall, the ascendant dropped to the floor, and as it did, Beatrix rolled over and began crawling toward's it, Damon got stabbed in the chest.

Damon and Kai continued fighting while Beatrix reached the ascendant, she grabbed it, as Kai had Damon flipped over and was shoving the arrow into his chest "Beatrix, get out of here." Damon told her "if saving you is the last thing I ever do.." Beatrix said, as she held her hand up, Kai flew off of Damon, and fell on the floor far away, as Beatrix used her powers to pull Damon toward's the light "don't!" Kai voiced "it will be enough, because you may be that boy Damon but heaven knows that I'm not that girl." Beatrix shared.

As the ascendant opened in Damon's hand "no." he said, looking at Beatrix "no!" he voiced, as he then disappeared, the ascendant clattered to the floor "aah!" Kai screamed, and as he did, Beatrix felt her eyes close, as she lied down on the ground.
