Chapter one hundred and eleven

"The Phoenix stone."

The next morning, Beatrix was auditing Alaric's class even though she barely even went to college anymore but after what her and Damon did to the heretics last night, hanging out next door didn't exactly seem like the top place to be "I wanna talk about death. More specifically I wanna talk about what happens after. Now, I'm not gonna pretend like my good look is the reason this class is so full." Alaric shared, as Beatrix and the entire class laughed.

"I've heard the same stories you have about mystic falls..ghost sightings, poltergeists.." Alaric said "zombies.' a guy piped up, making the class laugh "zombies. Now let's talk about it. What's behind all of these stories? Now, almost every single culture has the lore of a creature or being that cheats death. Why do our brains insist on inventing the most unbelievable things? It's because the reality of death is the most unbelievable thing of all. Now, the most terrifying thing that you're going to encounter in mystic falls is a trespassing ticket." Alaric shared, as students laughed.

Beatrix didn't knowing that trespassing ticket wasn't a piece of paper but your death handed over to you by a bunch of heretics "so everyone just stay out." Alaric told them, as everyone began to get up and leave as class ended, Bonnie and Beatrix walked up to Alaric "and that is probably the most entertaining class I have been to on this campus." Beatrix shared, as Bonnie furrowed her brows "do you even go here anymore?" she asked "seeing as I only went to actual class a few days? No. But I wasn't exactly gonna sit home and wait for my new neighbors to knock on my door was I?" Beatrix asked.

"Ah, yes, the great mystic falls evacuation plan." Bonnie mentioned "well they turned it into a ghost town. That part worked. Unfortunately for us, ghost towns are like amusement parks for college kids. The heretics have killed ten people already..two last night, idiots looking for a ghost selfie." Alaric shared, as he continued packing up "look, you know you can talk to me, right? Damon told me what your secret excursion was in Europe which he was obviously drunk when he did, complaining about how you weren't actually drunk then he passed out on my couch." Beatrix shared.

"Losing my money and my sanity to a series of con artists? Yeah. Don't worry. I'm over it." Alaric shared "but you don't have to be. What happened was awful. And for someone who knows a lot about resurrection along with Bonnie here I'm offended you didn't come to us first." Beatrix shared "agreed." Bonnie told her "what, you wouldn't think it's weird that I've been trying to contact my fiance who's been dead for months?" Alaric asked "if we didn't live the lives we do then yes." Beatrix shared, as she then stepped around Alaric, Bonnie followed after her "hey, Beatrix." Alaric told her, as Beatrix turned around, Bonnie stayed with her "have you ever heard of the phoenix stone?" Alaric asked, as Beatrix and Bonnie raised their brows.

The three were sitting together as Alaric held a red stone in his hand "an old contact of mine at duke told me about it. It's supposed to have resuscitative powers." he shared "coming from the witch family who's known for resurrection I think I'd know if a stone could do that." Beatrix shared, furrowing her brows "and that's why I didn't tell you." Alaric told her "where'd you get it?" Bonnie asked "well, you remember that night in New York?" Alaric asked "oh, the night you passed out on the floor of the bar and Damon and Bonnie went ahead of me. But I forgot my jacket and turned back finding you in perfectly good health!" Beatrix voiced, chuckling.

"Where I followed and found you sneaking into the maritime museum which I had no idea why until now." she added on, holding her hands out, Alaric put the stone in her hand "hmm." she said, furrowing her brows "what?" Bonnie asked her "you tell me." Beatrix told her, handing her the jewel and when she did, Bonnie furrowed her brows "I don't feel any magic emanating from it." she said "exactly." Beatrix told her "well, you two are officially more honest than anyone I saw in Europe." Alaric shared.
