119. GOING INTO THE PHOENIX STONE

Chapter one hundred and nineteen

"Going into the Phoenix Stone."

Having gone to the Lockwood mansion, Damon and Stefan's bodies were there, as Bonnie, Caroline and Matt were there, candles were all around, as they had put the stone on Stefan first, Beatrix used her powers, where finding him and getting him out didn't take that long but when it came to Damon, it was a totally different story, especially since unlike with Stefan, Beatrix actually got pulled into the hell scape that he was living in.

Where as she opened her eyes, she was looking into a water pale, where as she looked at herself, she had a white bonnet on her head and her hair was tied back, and she was wearing a brown dress on top of a long sleeved white one, looking very much like a peasant girl as she stood up, a bunch of soldiers, she saw a bunch of wounds soldiers in front of her who were coughing up blood, as she walked backwards, she bumped into someone "ooh, sorry." she said, as the soldier caught her "I'm sorry." he told her.

But when he did, Beatrix's eyes went wide "Damon?" she asked, but when Damon looked at her, it was like he didn't know it was her, as he pulled away from her and continued walking off, Beatrix followed after him and to a tent "colonel, sir." Damon said, taking his hat off "lieutenant Salvatore." the colonel said, as Damon walked in, Beatrix watched from outside "I'd like to request tow weeks leave to go home, sir." Damon told him "you and every man out here, Salvatore. No. Request denied." the colonel told him.

"I fear my brother is in a very bad way, sir. I would not ask if I did not believe he truly needs me. I do not wish to shirk my duties. If there is something you need done I shall do it." Damon shared "anything?" the colonel asked "anything. Yes, sir." Damon told him "all right, then. I've got a mission. Honestly, it's more of a chore." the colonel shared "for the chance to see my brother, I will gladly accept it." Damon told him "there's a farmhouse twelve miles to the east. Rumor is there are union sympathizers there hiding confederate deserters. Now, if these rumors are true. I need those deserters arrested and brought back to me." the colonel shared "consider it done. Thank you, sir." Damon shared, turning and walking out, he put his hat back on, Beatrix followed after him.

Walking through the woods, Beatrix followed behind Damon and his companion Harry "two weeks at home? Can you imagine? How grand. I cannot wait to see my girl Olive. She's a real peach. You have a sweetheart, Damon?" Henry asked "no, but I have to see my brother." Damon shared "Damon, are you certain about this?" Henry asked "about what, Henry?" Damon asked "about the mission. These men, these deserters were supposed to capture, they are just regular fellows who do not believe in the cause, like me, like you." Henry shared "it is true. I could give a damn about this war, Henry. To be honest, I only enlisted to please my father." Damon shared.

"The man who then shot you in cold blood." Beatrix said, where Damon turned around almost like he could see or hear her as Beatrix stood there shocked "well, then how can you be fine with rounding up men just like you?" Henry asked, as Damon turned back to him "it is not my fault they deserted, Henry. They made their beds, but now they're are ticket home." he shared, as they made it to a house.

Beatrix watched as Damon walked up with Henry and knocked on the door, a women answered "hello, ma'am. Could you spare some dinner for two hungry soldiers?" Damon asked "no. Sorry." the women told him, going to shut the door, Damon stopped her "I do not need to remind you that quartering is your wartime duty, not to mention the law." Damon shared, as the women stepped aside "thank you, ma'am." Damon told her, walking in with Henry, Beatrix followed after them.
