Chris came out of the booth immediately grasping his bottle of water and listened to the tracks back again. He turned to me with a nervous smile and I knew what was next.
"So, what do you think?" he looked at me, as did everyone else, anxiously awaiting my answer. I thought about how I would word things and smiled when it came to me.
"It was really good but, and maybe it's just my likings, there were some vocal things that sounded weird. Other than that I really like where things are going so far!" I smiled and Chris nodded, taking in my criticism.
"Okay, well can you show me what vocal things you're talking about?" he asked and I nodded of course. I told him Ricky which tracks to play back and I pointed out what I thought sounded strange and they noted it in the notebook full of lyrics.
"Okay, thanks!" Chris said and I walked back to the couch.
They stayed in their places, mixing and editing things and talking them over until they decided that they were done. We walked back out to the car and they looked at me.
"So, where's this grocery store?" Ricky asked and slid into the passenger seat.
"Okay, take a left out of here, then got straight until the light and then take a right and its right there." I directed them and they all had a stupid look on their face when we pulled into the Stop and Shop parking lot.
"Alright, let's go buy food!" Devin said excitedly. They grabbed carts and spilt up. I wondered around myself thinking of what I needed for my own house and grabbed a little basket filling it with a few essentials.
I checked out and went to put my stuff in the van. I saw that the door was open and smoke lightly billowing out of the passenger side.
"I thought you would be shopping up a storm with everyone else." Ricky said with a breathy chuckle and I shrugged.
"They ditched and I needed some things for my own house anyways. Why aren't you in there with them?" I asked as my curiosity peaked. He squinted at me and took another drag off of his cigarette but didn't answer.
"What's wrong, Ricky?" I sighed and leaned on the door frame of the passenger side.
"Nothing, I can't tell you anyways." He sighed and looked away.
"Why not? You know you can tell me anything." I placed a hand on his slumped shoulder and he faced me again with worried eyes. The look on his face made me a little nervous and I could tell he was fighting a battle in his mind as to whether he should tell me or not.
"You remember last night, like the end of the night a little before you went to bed?" he asked and squinted at me again. I nodded waiting for him to continue his thought. We kept each other's stare until he broke.
"I saw you two in the kitchen." He mumbled and looked away again but I reached down and pulled his face back to look at me.
"We as in me and who?" he looked at me totally confused and then realization set in. he realized that I didn't remember who it was that was in the kitchen with me last night. He let out a deep sigh and began to speak again.
"You and... Vic." I gasped and could feel my eyes go wide and much like a Looney Toon cartoon, my jaw hit the ground.
"It was Vic!" I gasped through the hand covering my mouth and he nodded sadly. His head snapped to the front of the van and I turned to see the guys walking out with three topped off carriages, laughing and joking around with each other. I put on my best façade as they neared the van, fake smile and all.
"We come bearing food." Devin motioned like Vanna White to the over flowing shopping carts. I chuckled and helped them put the food in the back. The whole ride back was full of cracking joke and blasting rap for some reason. Ricky was mostly quiet but I was the aster of hiding my feelings when I had to and I had to. I was astonished, no, flabbergasted that Vic had feelings for me let alone kissed me!
I spent the rest of the day with the guys and it was enjoyable; there were a few times that I wouldn't think about last night and that was nice up until it was time to go home. I knew Mike was probably waiting for me and I felt my chest tighten at the thought of being wrapped in his arms at night knowing his brother both confessed feelings and kissed me one night prior.
"I'll take you home." Ricky offered and I nodded. I gave each guy a hug and told them I would probably see them sometime this week. We walked out to the car and started off towards my house.
"Are you okay?" Ricky asked hesitantly and glancing at me once in a while. I just shrugged, terrible thoughts running through my head as we pulled into my driveway. No cars were there but the lights were on.
"Call me if you need me, okay? it doesn't matter what time, I'll come get you if you need me too." He smiled weakly and I gave him a hug. I didn't even say anything; I just composed myself enough to walk inside and look like I had the best day in the world.
"Hey babe! How was your day?" Mike said as soon as I walked in the door.
"Oh, Great!" I smiled falsely and he bought every inch of that smile. We lounged around just watching movies for the remainder of the night until we went up to bed.
I changed and slid into my cool comforter and was soon wrapped up in Mike's inked arms. I loved the feeling but right now, I really just wanted to be alone.
"I love you Jayme." He said with a yawn and kissed the nape of my neck before he dozed off.
I was so tired but my mind was going a mile a minute and couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard I tried. I could feel myself getting all worked up over what seemed like nothing to most people. I mean, Vic kissed me so I did nothing wrong. Why was I getting all worked up about it?
I'm eventually gonna have to tell Mike or talk to Vic about this. I can't let this fester like an infected wound in the back of my mind. I have to talk to one of them and I am definitely not looking forward to it.
