10:41 PM, Bellwood Zoo
Rays of light stretch across a stretch of road, bouncing off the reflectors that lie ahead. Tires squealed in indignation, enraged by the idea of having to stop. The squeals dragged across the street, carrying a green muscle car with them.
Kevin's car crawled to a stop before the gates of the Bellwood Zoo. Its emerald coat glistened in the moonlight, illuminating its powerful frame. The passenger door opened with a click, Gwen stepping out onto the pavement.
Kevin: Hey, good luck out there. Not that you'll need it.
Gwen: Thanks, Kevin. You too.
Nodding, the mutant began his journey to his own location. Gwen walked away from the retreating vehicle, a purple disc forming atop her palm. Scaling a set of platforms, she was able to effortlessly cross the barrier.
The moment she stepped foot in the zoo there was a pang of wrong that came with the quiet. Purple consumed her eyes as she scanned the empty zoo. Exhibits were filled with sleeping beasts; the zoo's halls were devoid of travelers. It was calm in every sense of the word, and something about that didn't sit quite right with the girl.
Streams of pink flooded her vision, overwhelming her senses as she attempted to sift through them. Scarlet dripped from her nostrils, splattering across her penny loafers. Gwen lurched back, hand to her forehead as she groaned.
Gwen: Okay, that's new.
She wiped her nose with her shirt, darkening the scarlet fabric. Her eyes regain their glow as she wades through the streams, passing by the gorilla exhibit. Groans flow through her throat, joining the night air. She stumbles past the bathroom, nose dripping with each step. Her groans grow louder, only to fall on deaf ears.
Gwen takes another step and freezes, her eyes landing on the rotating stand of a gift shop. Answering the call, she moved in, her eyes never leaving the stand. Her fingers wrapped around a purple cat mask, lifting it up reverently.
March 7, 2006
The roar of a beast drowns out the hustle and bustle of rush hour traffic. A cacophony of frantic cries and car alarms soon followed. Metal groaned from being struck by a green and blue blur. Above it all was a manic sort of laughter, the kind you would hear in an old cartoon.
Dr. Animo sat atop his latest creation: a long, slimy creature with powerful legs resembling that of XLR8, the head of a moray eel, and ending with a green and blue striped tail that had a talon at its tip. Orange fur dotted its torso and legs, highlighting the gills at its neck. Its front was perched atop an abandoned car, its feet leaving impressions on the roof.
Dr. Animo: Hahaha! With my latest creation nobody can stop me from acquiring the materials needed to remake my Transmodulator and mutate the human-Agh!
A blue bolt struck him at the end of his rant, drawing his attention over to the end of the road. Blue sparks leapt from Static's fingertips as he lowered his hand. To his side stood Snare-Oh, groaning at their adversary.
Snare-Oh: Seriously? You couldn't have picked a better time to do this?
Dr. Animo: Oh, did I inconvenience you with my greatness? Well, too bad. Destroy them!
In an instant, the mutant was upon them, lunging towards you with its mouth wide open. A bandaged fist flies towards it, knocking the creature away from you. You shock the creature, causing it to momentarily flinch. Before you know it, the two of you are being lashed by its tail, the tip leaving a small cut in Jen's wrapping. She falls on top of you, groaning as she picked you up.
