Oliver, Diggle and Kara were starving, so they went to Big Belly Burger still in their suits, since the place was almost empty, it was late, and everyone knew that Supergirl and the Green Arrow teamed up from time to time. They looked for an isolated booth and ordered. Kara had 4 burgers in front of her and a huge glass of club soda. Diggle stared at her in shock and Oliver just nodded, eating his burger.
- So... I brought her to meet a friend of mine from Mars... He's great at making people forget certain details...
- Are you sure that was all? – Diggle asked, still confused by Kara's sudden annoyance and lack of patience with Helena.
- Sure – Kara smiled innocently.
Oliver reached to Kara's hand, squeezing it.
- Thank you!
- You're welcome – She said, smiling as she felt his hands tightening his grip, and she did the same, carefully not to hurt him. – J'onn made her forget... You know, and about the bunker and what you taught her, but he couldn't go further. He is still learning how to control his powers better, so he couldn't risk causing permanent damage to her brain.
- That's great! – Diggle smiled, accepting her answer for now.
At least they wouldn't worry about Helena telling someone their secret.
- Please tell him I appreciate it. With her forgetting about my mission, this place and me it's already a huge help.
- She's in jail now. – Kara smiled satisfied.
After a while, Diggle got a text from his sister-in-law asking for his help with his nephew, and excused himself, leaving Kara and Oliver alone in the booth. They finished eating, paid and left, going back to the bunker.
- I've always wondered about that salmon ladder... Is it really that hard?
- When you don't have super strength and you get used to it, no – He smiled. – Want to try it? We can use some Red Sun lamps.
- Let's do this. – She said, excitedly, making Oliver laugh as he went to turn on the lamps they installed on the bunker for when Kara came to train with him, this way it was a fair fight.
Kara felt her powers vanishing for a while as she took her cape off and put it on a chair. Oliver took his hood down and his mask and went closer to Kara, to help her. She jumped and held on the bar, trying to go up with it as Oliver guided her.
- I'm really sorry about what happened... With Helena – She said jumping back to the ground after failing her first try – I know what is like to have such high hopes and see them crushed right in front of you.
- Thank you. I really thought I could help her... – Oliver said - But, I think deep inside I knew Diggle was right; I just didn't want to see it. I mean, he told me not to trust her, but I insisted on it.
- Being a super hero is lonely sometimes... – She said almost in a whisper – We need to make sacrifices, lie to people, and protect those we love and at the same time we crave to connect with people who really know us. I totally understand that. It's just a human thing, even if I'm not actually human, I mean...– She laughed nervously.
- You're better than many humans I know – He said, smiling back at her.
Kara blushed as she tried again.
- Stop it...
- I mean it – He laughed, making her laugh, helping her once again – You are.
- Well... Thank you.
Oliver stared at Kara wondering why they didn't meet earlier, because he clearly needed someone that bright and hopeful in his life.
- I just couldn't give up, you know? Sadly, I was wrong...
