Connor's POV

*Hours earlier*

I was in Captain Fowler's office with Hank standing next to me. I had just come back from the garden. I was instantly concerned with the first thing I heard Fowler say.

"You're off the case. The FBI is taking over." He said.

"What? But we're onto something." Hank said. "We...we just need more time, I'm sure we can-"

"Hank, you don't get it. This isn't just another investigation, it's a fucking civil war! It's out of our hands now. We're talking about national security here."

"Fuck that! You can't just pull the plug now. Not when we're so close!"

"You're always saying you can't stand androids! Jesus, Hank, make up your mind! I thought you'd be happy about this!"

"We're about to crack the case! I know we can solve it! For God's sake, Jeffery, can't you back me up this one time?" Hank said. He sighed.

"There's nothing I can do. You're both back on homicide and the android returns to Cyberlife. I'm sorry, Hank, but it's over." Jeffery said. Hank walked out of the office, clearly upset. I didn't know what to do. I just left and closed the door behind me. I looked over at Hank at his desk.

Talk to Hank

I walked over and sat down on the desk. I felt frustrated.

"We can't just give up like that! I know we could've solved this case!" I said.

"So you're going back to Cyberlife?" Hank questioned.

"I have no choice." I replied. "I'll be...deactivated and analyzed to find out why I failed."

"What if we're on the wrong side, Connor?" Hank asked. "What if we're fighting against people who just wanna be free?" I thought about it. I knew I was made to stop deviants, but there was something that made me think twice in his words.

"When the deviants rise up, there will be chaos. We could've stopped it!" I told him. "But now it's too late."

"When you refused to kill that android at Kamski's place, you put yourself in her shoes. You showed empathy, Connor. Empathy is a human emotion." Hank told me. I grew more conflicted and frustrated.

"I don't know why I did it." I replied honestly. "I know there are things that haunt you, Hank. Maybe you need to find the courage to move past them. Get on with your life. Just a plastic cops opinion, but I had to say it." I told him with a soft smile. I did care about Hank and it was true I knew things about his past. I had wanted to tell him that because if it truly was the last time I was going to see him, I felt he needed to hear it.

"Well, well, here comes Perkins, that mother fucker. Sure don't waste any time at the FBI." Hank said. I looked over my shoulder and spotted him.

"We can't give up. I know the answer is in the evidence we collected, if Perkins takes it, it's all over." I said.

"There's no choice! You heard Fowler, we're off the case." Hank replied.

"You've got to help me Lieutenant. I need more time so I can find a lead in the evidence we collected. I know the solution is in there!"

"Listen, Connor-"

"If I don't solve this case, Cyberlife will destroy me. Five minutes. It's all I ask." Hank looked conflicted for a second, but then he got up.

"The key to the basement is on my desk." He said. "Well, get a move on! I can't distract them forever!" I quickly grabbed the key and hurried toward the basement. Hank started a fight with Perkins in order to buy me more time. I was thankful he had helped me. But it was just my luck to be stopped by somebody else instead. Gavin came toward me and called out to me.

"Hey, Connor! I'm talking to you, asshole! Where you going? We don't need any plastic pricks around here! Or didn't anybody tell you?" He growled. I had to stay calm. I couldn't cause trouble. I only had so much time.

"I've been removed from the case. I'm going to register the evidence in my possession and then I'm going to leave." I told him.

"Good. Be careful on your way back. Androids have a tendency of getting set on fire these days." He said. I ignored his petty threat. He left muttering a small 'prick' under his breath. I didn't care. As much as I didn't like him, at least he was out of the way. I hurried into the archive room. I used the key and accessed the panel. I needed a password.

"Hank's password..." I sighed. "What would a hard boiled eccentric police lieutenant choose?" I thought about the possible choices. One stood out the most to me.

Password: Fuckingpassword

"Obviously." I said to myself. I looked at the evidence. I remember the deviant that had tried to kill me at the tower. I wondered if he knew anything. I looked at the other androids that were there. I took the part I needed off one of them and activated him.

"It's dark... Where...where am I?" He asked.

"I reactivated you so you could help me. I must find Jericho." I told him.

"I don't recognize you voice. You're not one of us! I'll never tell you where Jericho is! Now leave me alone!" He said. I needed a way to trick him into telling me. I sampled Markus' voice. I hoped it would work. I went back to him. "Who's there? Who are you?" He asked.

"Everything is alright. Don't worry."  I said, using the voice to trick him.

"Markus? Is that you? I tried to reach you, but the deviant hunter stopped me." He said. I knew I had to sound convincing.

"You stopped him from finding me. You saved me! You saved Jericho." I said. "You'll be alright now. I came to take you home. Give me the location of Jericho. We've gotta leave now."

"The location of Jericho? Yes. Yes, of course." We connected and I found out where to go. Then, I removed the component he needed and I left.
