[Author's note]

Holy shit everyone, I am currently working on the second epilogue for Rebirth of Fenrir and this morning I saw Fenrir has officially passed 3k reads... I hope my books will continue to grow like this and for many people to find their way to the Fenrir story even when I am actively releasing chapters for Volume 2.

Thank you all for the support and sticking with me and keep reading.

[The Story]

When they had each had their fill of breakfast, Akane, Misuki and Lyya went to gather their belongings upstairs and prepare to shop for supplies. Meanwhile, Aelanna left the tavern with a guard to retrieve their carriage and drakes. They had chosen to leave Moiria village today, so Aelanna went on her duties while Kanrish watched the kids downstairs in the tavern's main hall. Ayame sat teaching Hapii to read in little bits.

To Kanrish's surprise Emiko had little progress in her own reading and writing since her time as a slave was mostly spent working in the hellish tavern the girls had been saved from. Ayame however clearly had the moldable mind of a child and the learning speed to go with it. From the two sisters, Ayame had caught on with her reading and writing the fastest of the two and had now begun teaching the basics of reading Elvish to Hapii.

She seems to be doing well, or is enjoying the challenge of teaching a harpy to read... but will she be able to write? Kanrish thought and noticed Hapii make an awkward movement with her wing and moments later the harpy girl held a charcoal pencil between the thumb on her wing and the joint where she folded it. Guess it is possible for a harpy to learn to write, I wondered if they could with those wings... His thoughts seemed to betray themselves on his face as Emiko smiled at him.

"Sis has a few things up her sleeve when it comes to teaching others. She learned to read and write from me back in the days, but I could only teach her what I knew so..." The girl looked down at her feet defeated, her long grayish-white hair tied in a ponytail on the back of her head she shook her head in denial of something so Kanrish stood next to her.

"Want to talk a moment? The two of us, father to daughter?" He asked and she nodded with a dark expression. He informed the other two girls that they would sit a few tables off to the side, but he would still be around if they needed him. After that Kanrish walked Emiko to a table with a stool on one side of it and a small bench built into the wall on the other.

Emiko started to sit down on the rough wooden stool, but was redirected to the bench by Kanrish. "Remember Emiko, you're no slave anymore... If you want to sit on the bench you can." He spoke with a smile and she nodded grimly as she stepped off the stool.

"B-b-but you stole me and Sis as slaves from Maka'ral. So I should be the one in discomfort, I shouldn't even be allowed on a stool as such..." She retorted when they sat opposite to each other. "Sorry to bring it to you Emiko, I don't own you, and I broke the curse remember. I see you as a daughter who we travel with, Ayame and Hapii the same. You're free and have no slave-live duties anymore. We divide the tasks during travels like we do for a reason." Kanrish replied and Emiko stared at him with wide eyes.

"B-b-bu-..." She tried to keep her fight up but Kanrish struck it down immediately. "I don't want my kids to fight for their lives if I can help it, I don't mind Aelanna learning the two of you a bit of swordsmanship. You need to defend yourselves of course. But why did you think I placed you and Ayame on cooking for on the road?" His simple question seemed harder to answer for the young dark elf across the table from him than he had expected.
