Heroes - B.B. (Firefighter AU)

"Okay, you should be all set and don't forget to eat. I do it sometimes too," you said to your patient.

"Dr. Reed, incoming!" A nurse yelled.

"Gotta go," You said.

You ran out to the ambulance bay. An ambulance rolls in with a fire truck following behind. You go to the ambulance and the doors open up to a bleeding out firefighter and the paramedics have tears in their eyes.

"Okay, What do we have?" You asked as they pulled him out with the gurney.

You immediately got to applying pressure to the wounds as Wanda starts telling you what happened.

"We gotta take him to surgery. Call the O.R!" You yelled to an intern. "I'll do what I can."

You hopped on the gurney as they wheel him in. You kept shouting commands at people as you're taken to the elevator. The paramedics were switched with nurses. The whole squad stopped and it's as if time slowed. They watched as you went into the elevator getting to work on their fallen firefighter.

Steve backed away seeing the elevator doors close and his best friend is out of his view. Sam put a hand on his shoulder and gripped it. Wanda and Natasha are crying. The other boys are just numb.

You finally finished the surgery. It was exhausting. You've got blood everywhere on and you wonder what the hell happened out there to the firefighter. At least you saved him. You just hope to god he doesn't have any brain damage. That would absolutely suck ass.

You took off the blood soaked surgical gown and mask. You threw them away and made your way out of the O.R. Your feet are killing you so much and people are looking at you like a madman.

"Did they survive?" Your best friend, Daisy, asked.

"Yeah," You said.

"Go get cleaned up, I can tell the family," Daisy said.

"Nah, I wanna see their faces but I'm definitely getting cleaned up," you said heading down the hallway.

You got to the doctor's staff room and Fitz and Simmons look at you concerned. You smiled at them and went into the staff bathroom that's equipped with a shower. Luckily there's towels in there. You locked the door and stripped down. You got into the shower and started the water. You let it wash off all the blood. You could finally take a breather if only for a few minutes before telling the firefighters that their friend is alright.

(Time skip)

You come into the waiting room to see a bunch of sad firefighters. You cleared your throat and they all looked at you. They stood up quickly and fire Chief Fury came right up to you with his hands on his hips.

"It was touch and go for awhile but he is indeed alive and in the ICU right now," you said.

Steve comes rushing over and gives you a bone crushing hug. The whole station happily cheered and you received more hugs from them all. You put on a smile even though you're tired as hell. You were supposed to go home 12 hours ago but the surgery got in the way which you don't mind. You saved a superheroes life. That's what mattered.
