Chapter 36: The Threat Of The Raikage

"Throw her in!" Raikage demanded as the guards did as told and tossed Nia in the dungeon.

"No, wait!" The girl landed flat on her left side then glanced over her shoulder.

"First you go rogue on this village, next go around killing innocent lives, then go as far as taking down Bee," Raikage hissed.

"B-But I don't remember ever doing that!" She then hopped over to the bars, having been restrained with tight brown fabric. "Please! You have to believe me!"

"The blood of children and women are sprayed on you! You're even wearing an Akatsuki cloak!" Cee, who was to the right of the Raikage, added.

Nia shook her head. "I don't know what you're talking about! I have no memory of ever harming anyone! I would never take an innocent life, I swear! And this blood and cloak thing... I must... I must've been set up!"

"We saw you associating with the Akatsuki with our very own eyes," One of the guards from earlier stated. "You watched those guys beat down on Lord Bee."

"No... that can't be true."

"Well it is true," Ai replied. "And for that, you face execution."

"WHAT?!"

With that said, Lord Raikage began to walk away.

"Please wait!" Nia pleaded. "Please just tell me... where's Naruto?"

"Naruto?"

The girl nodded.

"Yes... You see the last thing I remember was talking to him near his front door at the Leaf and then... everything went fuzzy for me and I ended up finding myself here in the Cloud. I just... I just wanna know what's going o-"

"NIA!" The door to the dungeon slammed open as a familiar face ran down the stairs and to the cell she was being kept behind.

"Naruto!" A large and relieved grin played on the girl's lips when he approached her, him gripping the bars as the two made eye contact once more.

When a guard laid their hand on his shoulder, Naruto brushed it away and turned around, his arms spread eagle.

"You leave her alone!"

"Naruto Uzumaki..." Raikage breathed. "Who let you down here?"

"I did," A colored young woman with grey hair and blue eyes made her presence known.

"Mabui, why would you? This is a private area."

"They say they know something that we don't. And besides, I only brought three of them down here."

"I know Kakashi and Naruto, but who are you, young man?" He questioned the third person.

"I'm Shikamaru, sir."

"If you don't mind, we'd like to have a word with you, Lord Raikage," Kakashi got straight to the point. "This concerns Nia and what she's been doing as of late. We can explain everything to you and answer your questions."

"If you can give me a solid explanation as to what's been going on, I'll set her free from her prison."

"Let me in there with her,"  Naruto spoke up as Cee gave him a look.

"Why would you wish for that?"

"Because I need to comfort her. She must be scared to death right now. Let me in there; I hadn't gotten the chance to see her in so long."

"Fine — let him in and release her from the restraints," Ai ordered. "You guards just watch over them until the rest of us come back."

"Yes, Lord Raikage," One of the guards opened the door and unbuckled Nia's restraints to which they would then allow Naruto in.

"Nia," The blonde hurried over to her, got on his knees and embraced her while she responded with a hug of her own, laying her head on his shoulder and arms wrapped around his neck.

"Naruto, I'm so scared," Tears welled up in her eyes. "I don't know why I'm back over here and why the Raikage is saying I'm facing execution. I did nothing wrong."

"I won't let them kill you. You're not getting executed," Naruto promised. "You were under genjutsu this whole time. It's a really long story."

"Genjutsu?"

"Yeah, but don't worry, everything will be fine. Kakashi-sensei and Shikamaru will explain everything to the Raikage, ya know?"

With a groan, Naruto unzipped the cloak on the girl.

"Damn it, they've gone too far with this. How dare they dress you up in their clothing!"

Taking the Akatsuki's cloak off her, the blonde tossed it aside near a corner. Underneath it, Nia's jacket sported a few blood stains.

"Naruto, are you okay? Did anyone hurt you?" Nia mumbled, moving out of the hug and resting a hand on his chest.

"I'm fine: I'm just worried about how you're doing. I had been looking for you for a few days."

"A few days? But I just saw you."

"Being outside my home was seriously the last thing you remember?"

Nia nodded.

"I did... have this dream though."

"A dream? What about?" The blonde questioned.

"Well I was in some kind of empty white space and there was some guy there with an orange mask with me. He was one of the Akatsuki guys and was wearing the cloak also. For some reason, I couldn't wake up no matter how hard I tried and it felt like I could barely remember anything."

"Nia, that wasn't really a dream. That bastard placed you under genjutsu I think. What was he saying to you there?"

"Umm... I couldn't remember who you were and he was telling me that we didn't know each other and that I would die by his hand."

"So he erased your memories with his genjutsu..."

Nia remained silent.

"If that's so, how did you break out of it?"

Nia thought very hard.

"I..."
