Ricky POV

"What's up dude?" I ask when we get to the kitchen. EJ sighs and brings his hand through his hair in frustration, hopping up onto the counter top. "Gina and I are in an awkward spot... again. I kinda fucked up." I raise my eyebrows, waiting for him to continue. "She and I were making out, like really making out and-" I cut him off. "Oh my fucking god did you guys-" He glares at me and shakes his head. "No. Shut up. But it felt like it for a little bit. She was all into it and I took off my shirt and we were clearly against each other and then she pulled back and it got really awkward really fast." I take a deep breath. "Damn dude. Did you guys talk about it?" He shakes his head and I want to slap him on the forehead. "EJ, come on." His shoulder slump forward. "Look, my mind was all foggy and-" I shake my head and cut him off. "It doesn't matter dude, she clearly wasn't comfortable." He sighs and runs his hand through his hair again, thinking for a second, then speaking quietly. "She wouldn't be my first... but she'd be different. It'd be love. That sounds strong, but it's true and I don't know what the fuck to do because I don't struggle with this type of shit. She does these stupid things to my mind and now I can't remember easy shit like making sure I communicate well." I shrug. "Yeah but have you ever communicated well-" He glares at me, holding his hand off to cut me off. "Not the point." I laugh and shrug. "Look, you need to talk to her. Like really fucking talk to her." EJ nods and sighs heavily. "When do I talk to her?" I rub the bridge of my nose in annoyance. "Do I have to plan out everything for you?" He nods frantically. "Fuck yes, I'm gonna screw it up if you don't." I try to hold back my laughter but it sounds like I'm choking and his glare could kill. "Okay okay I'm sorry. Talk to her tonight before you take her home." He nods and thinks for a second. "Where?" I roll my eyes. "I don't know... the porch? The street? A fucking bush? Just talk to your girlfriend." I say and he nods, finalizing the conversation. "Jesus I'm way too damn nervous." I laugh and clap him on the back. "Welcome to a real relationship."

Nini POV

When we walk inside, we hear EJ and Ricky talking in the kitchen. Gina's eyebrows go up a little and I smile knowingly, pulling her behind the wall so that we could hear better. "...but she'd be different. I'd be in love." We hear and Gina looks like she wants to squeal. She jumps a little and I try to get her to stay quiet. We listen to the boys talk a little longer, and then she yanks my arm so that we're back on the back porch. "Gimme a second, my heart wants to exit my body." She says, pressing her hand against her heart. I start laughing and her smile is contagious, the pure happiness crossing over her face. "Okay so now I just have to talk to him." She says with a little laugh. "Easy." She concludes and I wrap my arm around her encouragingly, just in time for a wave of cramps to hit. "Woah" I say and I kneel down. "Hey, you good, girl?" Gina asks and she bends down to my level, a hand on my back. "Fine. Just a cramp." I say, moving to get back up but having the unkind feeling hit me again. "During my yoga class they taught us this pose to relieve menstrual cramps... here let me show you." She says and she directs my body so that my head is almost against the porch and my knees legs are tucked under me. "It's call child's pose." I feel the cramps start to ebb and flow and I thank her. "Are you seriously okay though?" I nod and bring my head up so that I'm basically kneeling. "If today's like this tomorrow's going to be hell." I admit and she frowns. "I had mine last week and the first two days fell on the weekend. I'm forever grateful for those types of cycles." I nod and frown, wishing mine had started last weekend, even if it meant sacrificing some of the intimate times Ricky and I had during the trip to Chicago. "Can I get you water?" She asks and I nod. "Actually that sounds good, but I think I need to walk a little so I'll get it with you." She nods and helps me up, right as I have a wave of dizziness washes over me. "Woah. Okay how about you sit and I get the water?" She asks with a little laugh and I reluctantly nod. When she walks away I take a deep breath, soaking in the night air and then straining my hearing to listen to an exchange happening in the kitchen. "Yeah no. I'll take it to her. I think EJ has to talk to you anyway." I hear and I smile at Ricky being protective, concerned, and EJ's wingman all at once. A few seconds later, Ricky walks out and I feel his arms wrap around my shoulders. "You good Nins?" He asks quietly and I smile, immediately immersed into his familiar smell and his gentle embrace. "Yeah, just give me a second." I say and he nods. "Take your time. I just brought you water." He says, handing me the glass. I gulp down the entire thing, knowing it will help with my cramps and Ricky helps me stand up slowly so that I don't get another rush of dizziness. "All good?" He asks again and I nod, massaging an area of my stomach. Ricky's hands come over mine, moving them gently and moving his thumbs in a massaging way. I close my eyes, sighing and when I open them I notice Ricky watching me intently. I cock my head a little and wait for him to speak. "I just... you're gorgeous and I hate when you're in pain." I smile and rest my forehead against his chest. "Then let's go do homework and forget about it." He laughs and rubs my back. "Deal. IF you let me help you tomorrow. Gina says this isn't even your worst." I nod and rub my thumbs across his back. "Okay" I whisper out and his lips find my forehead, gently kissing me and sending butterflies through my body.
