Ricky POV

"You tired?" I mumble into Nini's hair as I feel her breathing slow. She only nods against me, breathing out heavily and adjusting herself on my chest. "I'm barely awake." She admits quietly and I laugh, rubbing her shoulder. "Do you want to shower?" She hums and and sits up a little. "I feel like I should, we were at the carnival, and then the lake and then well..." I chuckle and press a few kisses to her cheek. "You can go shower if you want? I'll wait here." She sits up, surprised and gives me a bright smile. "I don't know whether or not to be offended or relieved. You usually jump at a chance to be naked with me." I laugh brightly and push at her. "Nins!" She grins wider and traces her fingertips across my chest. "You know it's true so shush." I pepper kisses across her neck in response. "You kinda wore me out baby." I mumble against her skin before she pushes herself up. "Good." She giggles as she grabs a towel. "I'll be right back and then it'll be your turn." She says and I nod, smiling as I watch her leave the room, blowing me a gentle kiss. I can't help but grin as she leaves and I throw myself back on the bed happily. I exhale deeply and turn over, smiling into a pillow as I recall the events of the night. Every touch, every smile and every look replays in my mind. My thoughts are interrupted though when I hear my phone buzzing on the nightstand and I reach over blindly to grab it. "Yeah?" I mumble into it without checking the caller ID. "Oh! Ricky baby?" My eyes widen and I sit up fully in shock. "Mom?" I get up, hopping into my shorts and sitting back down to throw sheets across my body even though she couldn't see me at all. It was just something about talking to my parent after doing something like that. "Yeah baby, I didn't think you'd pick up! Isn't it late in Salt Lake?" I furrow my eyebrows and shake my leg up and down. "Then why'd you call? And I'm in Colorado with my friends. Though that's still literally only an hour behind you." I say and my mom clears her throat. "Oh yes! You're right Rick. My mistake." She sounds off, but I shake my head, trying to hold onto the good feeling of the night. "Yeah so what's up?" I ask and she hesitates. "Well I'm coming to Salt Lake for work pretty soon! So maybe we can meet up? Or I can come to you? I'd love to see you darling, I have some news." My stomach churns as I think about what her news could be but I squeeze my fist tight and take a deep breath. "Uh sure I guess. How soon?" The line is quiet for a second. "Like next week? Will you be back from Colorado by Wednesday or Thursday?" I hum in response. "We'll be back Saturday." I say simply and my mom clears her throat. "Okay, so Wednesday it is." My head shoots up as I connect the day she'll be coming back into town though. "Wait, this Wednesday?" My mom laughs gently, the one that used to make my heart warm and feel close to home. "Yes of course Ricky. So I'll see you then?" I can only nod and mutter out a quick goodbye. I sit there in shock for a second and only look up when I hear the door quietly open.

"Whatcha thinking about babe?" Nini asks gently, putting her stuff down and walking over to place a hand on the back of my neck as she stands near the edge of the bed where I'm seated. "My mom called." I say and Nini's fingers move into my hair. "Is that why you're dressed?" She giggles and I push her away gently, chuckling and admiring how happy she can make me in just a quick second. "Shut up angel, I did NOT want to talk to her naked." She grins and leans down, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "What'd she need Ricky?" She asks me with a more serious tone as I wrap my arms around her midsection. "It was weird... she didn't think I'd pick up the phone so I can only assume she called to leave a message. But she's coming back to see me next week. On Wednesday." Nini nods, her arms coming around to hold me as I rest my head against her stomach. "Well that's really good I think you need to see her... wait... this coming Wednesday?" She asks, her hands stilling on my back as something clicks in her brain. "Yeah." I mumble against her and her hands move to my hair, massaging my scalp in a way that makes my heart feel a little less heavy. "I... okay. I'll be right here with you. Everything will go just fine." She whispers and I believe her, rubbing her sides with my thumbs and making no point in getting up to take my shower. This is where I needed to be right now, regardless of my mom returning on my parent's wedding anniversary.
