Chapter 72: Even More Lovebirds

I looked over at Maya. She had a shocked yet sad expression. I looked back over to the boys who were now standing up.

"Let's go back to the beach and wait for y/n and Maya to get back. When she gets back you can tell her how you feel" Meow stated as he stood.
"Yeah, but what should I say?" Brutus asked.
"Just say whatever comes to mind. Be normal about it"
"Okay. Be normal, just be normal" Brutus repeated.

They started to walk towards where Maya and I were hiding. I held my breath as they walked by just to make sure they wouldn't notice us. Once they got to the water and began swimming Maya and I got out of the bush.

"Maya?" I asked.
"Brutus, likes me" she said.
"Yeah he sure does"
"I don't know what to do" she told me worriedly.
"Well do you like him?" I asked.
"I mean, yeah. But I don't think I'm ready to date anyone"
"Have you ever dated anyone before?"
"No, Brutus would be my first"
"Well, if you aren't ready to date that's what you tell him. Or if you want to try then tell him yes"
"Okay" she nodded.
"Let's head back to the beach it's probably time for lunch"

We walked to the shore to where we had our paddleboards. We were really lucky that Brutus and Meow didn't see them. We pushed our boards into the water and sat on them. We started to paddle deeper before standing on them. We then stood up on the boards and paddled to the beach. I sat down on mine once we got to shallow water. I hopped off and just carried it onto the beach when the water was to my knees.

I set my board down and Maya set hers next to mine. I stuck my oar into the sand and walked over to Midas. I sat down in the chair that was next to him.

"Hi darling, where did you and Maya go?" He asked.
"We just went to one of the islands" I replied.

I saw Brutus stand up and walk over to Maya. She looked at me and I nodded.

"Why are you nod-"
"Shh" I interrupted him trying to listen to Brutus and Maya.

"Hey, uhhh Maya?" Brutus said.
"Yeah" Maya replied.
"I just wanted to tell you something"
"Yeah, what is it?"
"I like you, in like a boyfriend way and I was wondeirng if you would like to be my girlfriend?" He asked as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Oh uhhh sure" Maya replied blushing.

Brutus looked at her with a surprised expression. I myself was surprised since she just said she wasn't sure if she was ready. I looked at Midas who was also very surprised.

"I never thought I would see those two together" he said.
"Me neither, but they are"
"Now I'm the only single one here!" Peely whined.
"We can find you someone Peely" Skye giggled.
"Maybe, I don't know who would want to date a banana" Tina added.
"Hey, I get baddies all the time" Peely remarked.
"Sure you do" Tina replied sarcastically.
"I do" Peely huffed.
"Anyways, so you two are a thing now?" Tina asked.
"Yeah, I guess we are" Maya smiled.

I had a feeling they were going to have an awkward relationship at first since this was Mayas first. Could've even been Brutus' first as well.

"Alright well I'm hungry, let's go get some lunch" Skye said.
"Where should we go?" Meow asked.
"Let's go to Tacos. There's one just up here" I said pointing to the buildings in Sweaty Sands.
"Works for me" Brutus shrugged.

We all stood up and headed to Tacos. Midas had his arm around my waist, Tina and Bomb were holding hands, while Meow had his arm around Skyes shoulders. Brutus awkwardly reached for Mayas hand and they held hands. Maya blushed from this and tried to hide her blushing by looking at the ground.

When we got to Tacos we sat down at separate tables. Midas and I across from Meow and Skye. TNTina and Bomb across from Brutus and Maya.

"Wait. Where am I gonna sit?" Peely asked.
"Oh you can-" Maya started before she was interrupted.
"You can sit with me" a woman with black hair and yellow clothes on said.
"Oh uh thanks" Peely said turning to look at her.
"I'm Yellowjacket but you can call me Yellow" she said.
"I'm Peely, nice to meet you" he said sitting down next to her.
"That might be the girl" Skye said.
"What?" I asked.
"You know, his girlfriend?" Skye replied.
"Oh, could be" I agreed.

The waiter came over and asked us all what we wanted. We all ordered the type of tacos that we wanted. We also ordered our drinks and the waiter left with our orders. We all just sat and talked while we waited for our orders.

When the waiter brought our orders we stopped talking and just ate quietly. When we finished we paid and left, besides Peely. He stayed and talked to Yellowjacket while we headed back to the beach.

"Peely must like Yellowjacket" Skye giggled.
"Yeah, like we said girlfriend" I agreed.

We all went back to the beach and got into the water. Midas and I played volleyball with Maya and Brutus. Tina and Bomb played chicken with Skye and Meow. Peely didn't come back to the beach until about an hour later. Plus, he didn't come back alone. Yellowjacket was with him, she was now wearing a black and yellow bikini.

Peely and Yellowjacket grabbed some floaties and just floated around in the water talking. We all had a bunch of fun until it started to get dark. We all went onto the beach and got ready to leave.

"Hey guys! I'll be back tomorrow, yellowjacket invited me to come to her place tonight" Peely yelled to us.
"Got it!" Tina replied.

I looked over to see Yellowjacket all over Peely. Just the thought of her falling in love with a banana seemed funny. Then again Skye fell in love with a half cat man and she was my bestfriend.
