Chapter 96: The Medical Room

Time skip to an hour later

Maven's POV

The outro of HxH was finally playing after a long episode. I stood up and stretched my body to hear the lounge room door slowly open. I looked over to see a henchman standing there quietly waiting for us to acknowledge him. I smiled and looked at Flare as he stood up next to me and looked over at the door as well.

"Hello there" Flare stated.

"Hello, Remedy said you guys can come visit since Midas should be waking up any second" The henchman told us.

Skye's POV

"And what about y/n?" I asked.

"Remedy didn't say anything about her so I'm not sure" He politely nodded.

"Okay"

"Let's go" Tina stated as she walked towards the door.

We all started following her throw the door as the henchmen kindly held the door for us.

"Thank you" I said as I passed, he just nodded in response.

We all walked towards the medical room and stopped outside of the door. I walked past everyone and opened the door before walking in to see Midas sitting up in bed drinking water. Y/n on the other hand was laying down and didn't look like she was doing the greatest.

"Hey guys" Midas smiled as we all walked in.

"Hey Boss man, how are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm doing alright" he replied as he looked over at y/n with worry.

"Hey" Tina quietly said as she sat down in a chair next to Midas. "She's a strong girl she'll be okay" Tina comforted Midas.

"Yeah, I know" He replied with just as much worry as before.

Midas' POV

I looked over at y/n as she laid in the hospital bed next to me. She looked like she was on the verge of death. I'm worried she won't make it, what will I do without her? I mean, Tina is right she is a very strong girl, but nobody is strong enough to survive a gun shot. I was still in a little bit of pain in my side, but I don't matter right now. What matters is that my girl gets better.

"Okay Midas it's time for you to eat, you need protein to help you" Remedy stated as she handed me a tray of food.

"Thank you" I smiled as I took the tray from her.

I began eating as the others chatted amongst themselves. I looked over at y/n a few times as I ate but she never moved. The only way I knew she was still alive was because I could hear her heart machine beeping. I wasn't very hungry and decided to quit eating. I set the tray on the table next to the hospital bed I was laying on. I sat up more to see Remedy typing away at her computer just like she always does. I looked at the others and they stopped talking. I noticed the waitress from Sticks along with a guy who had glowing teal tattoos that matched his hair.

"Hey why are you here?" I asked her.

"Well Flare and I brought you here in an ambulance and we wanted to make sure you were okay before leaving. Flare is a waiter at Stick's by the way" Maven explained.

"Oh, well that's very sweet of you Maven" I smiled.

"It's not a big deal really" Maven shrugged.

"Also Maven did you get my note?"

"No, I don't think so"

"Hmm, okay well it said that if you would like you could work here along with Rook as a receptionist. I would make sure you were being paid enough to pay for school and we have extra rooms here so you could live here in one of them as well" I explained to her.

"Really!? I mean yes I'd love to!" She replied trying to hide her excitement.

"Good, how about you start tomorrow?"

"Perfect!" She cheerfully stated.

"As for you, Flare. How come you work at Sticks?" I asked.

"It's an easy job and I get paid enough to fit my needs" he shrugged.

"Maybe you can work here as well, we're always looking for new people for many different reasons" I suggested.

"Maybe, I mean I'm really good with technology"

"Perfect, you can work with Bomb and Tek in the tech room. Unless, you don't want to but from what I've seen you two seem close so I thought you two might like to work in the same building" I shrugged.

"Works for me" Flare smiled as he placed his arm around Maven's shoulders.

I just smiled at his little gesture. It kind of hurt seeing the two perfectly together knowing my wife was barely alive in the bed next to mine. I looked over at her and she looked even paler than she did a few minutes ago. I looked up at her heart machine and saw her vitals falling, she was dying.

"Remedy, she's dying" I panicked.

Remedy quickly stood up and ran over to y/n's side. She started messing with all the wires and cords around y/n. Everyone started to back up besides Maya. Maya rushed to the opposite side of the bed and started to help Remedy. I wasn't sure as to what they were doing but it didn't seem to work very well. Y/n's vitals continued to drop until the monitor was a continuous beep and the line was flat. She was dead, but the girls didn't give up. Remedy started chest compressions as Maya stood next to her ready to take over once Remedy got tired. Remedy kept giving her CPR for a while before letting Maya take over for the next 10 minutes. They kept going back and forth but it wasn't doing anything, my girl, my baby, my love..... she was gone. I sat there looking at her lifeless body as my heart shattered into a billion pieces. My eyes watered and I began crying, but the tears weren't normal, they were golden tears. I've never cried tears of gold before, they've always been normal tears. What was happening to me?

Man, was that a chapter. Anyways, I hope you liked the chapter. It was a visual adventure getting through that for me while writing that. Now all of your questions are answered. Midas is okay, but you are indeed dead....right?
