Chapter 94: Breakfast Out

We pulled up to the shore in Craggy Cliffs and parked the boat. Midas got out and helped me out of the boat. We then headed up the beach and walked into Sticks while holding hands. We walked inside to see that it was a bit full, but not too full. We looked around and decided to eat outside since there were very few people eating outside. We walked over to the table by the corner of the deck. We sat down and waited for someone to come over to help us.

"Hello, my name is Raven and I'll be your waitress today. Here are your menus, now what would you guys like to drink?" Our waitress asked us.

"I'll have coffee" Midas replied.

"I'll have a glass of Orange Juice. Wait, I recognize you from somewhere" I stated.

"Wait, aren't you guys are the couple that came in a while ago for a wedding dress" She smiled.

"Yeah, that was us" Midas grinned as he sat back in his chair.

"How come you're working here now?" I asked her.

"I needed to make more money than what I was there so I looked for a higher paying job and found this place" She replied as she looked around. 

"What are you needing more money for?" Midas asked, leaning onto the table.

"Well I just started college and I have to pay for tuition still" She replied.

"Oh, college" Midas repeated.

"Anyways, I'll be back with your drinks" She stated before walking away.

I looked at Midas and could see that he was deep in thought. I debated on asking him what he was thinking but decided just to let him continue thinking. Only a few minutes had passed when Maven came back with our drinks.

"Okay what would you two like to order?" She asked as she pulled out a notepad and pen.

"I'll have an omelet along with a few pieces of bacon" Midas ordered.

"I'll have the Nutella waffles with strawberries" I added.

"Okay I will be back in 10 minutes with your food" She nodded before walking off.

Midas went back to thinking, but this time I decided to ask him.

"Hey, what are you thinking about?" I asked.

"Maven, she said she needed money for college. She also mentioned how she had come here to make more money for college"

"Yeah, but where are you going with this?"

"She could work as a secretary along with Rook"

"Would she be making more money as a secretary than she does here?"

"Yes, I'll make sure she makes enough for school and more so she has money for when she graduates" He replied.

"That's great Midas!" I smiled.

"I just want to help others out more. I feel like I haven't done enough for others"

"You have done a lot for others"

"But I can always do more darling"

Maven came back over with a large tray and our plates on it. She set my plate down and then Midas'.

"Enjoy your food" she politely nodded before walking off once again.

I began eating as Midas started writing on a small piece of paper. He wrote about a paragraph of who knows what before he began eating as well. We were silent as we ate, it was a comfortable silence and it was nice. I looked up and caught Midas staring at me, he looked away and blushed as soon as I noticed. I just chuckled and continued eating as Midas also went back to eating. Once we finished eating Maven came over and picked the plates up carrying them off towards the kitchen.

"I'm going to leave her this note and some money" Midas said as he pulled out a few 100's and set them with the note on the middle of the table.

POW!

I looked over and saw Midas laying on the floor clutching his right side. I ran to his side in fear of what just happened, was he shot? Then the next thing I knew I was laying on the floor next to him with the feeling of something warm and wet puddling around us. I could hear the cries of the nearby people but everything went blurry and started getting hazy. Their voices eventually became faint and I could no longer hear them.
