Chapter 90: Why Do I Always Screw Things Up?

After a few minutes of an awkward silence I stood up and began walking towards the boat I had driven. Xavier did the same but walked over to the boat he had taken. I hopped in and turned the engine on, I didn't bother to turn the radio on. I drove off and was going to the Agency, thinking about the kiss the whole way there. 

When I arrived I saw Midas sitting on the bench in front of the Agency. Great, he's gonna see both Xavier and I arriving at the same time while we are in an awkward situation right now. I pulled the boat up to the dock and got out. I leaned off the dock and reach for my phone. When I stood back up and turned around I saw Midas standing next to me. I slowly looked up and made eye contact with Midas, he looked like he had cried but his face was now going back to normal since it was still red just not puffy. Why was he crying?

"Midas what's wrong? Were you crying?" I asked.

Midas just sighed before he looked behind me. I turned around to see Xavier pulling up to the Agency in his boat. Midas instantly went cold and showed no emotion. Xavier parked the boat by the dock and hopped out. He looked at me and then Midas before he just continued walking into the Agency. Midas and I made eye contact and his face softened. 

"Midas?"

"Yes darling, I was crying. I was worried about you being out with Xavier knowing how he feels about you. I left my office from being too worried to work and came out here. I sat on the bench about 4 hours ago and have just been silently crying as I waited for you. I finally stopped about 10 minutes ago. I thought I lost you, I'm scared of Xavier taking you from me Y/n." He explained as his voice cracked at the end.

"Oh Midas, you won't lose me to him"

"It's not that I'm afraid of you falling for him instead"

"Then what is it?"

"I'm scared of him taking you and never returning" he sighed. 

"Like kidnapping me?" I asked surprised.

"Yeah. I mean we don't know Xavier very well, he could do anything" Midas explained breaking our eye contact.

"Yeah I guess so" I said as I hugged myself since it was chilly.

"Who's jacket is that?" Midas asked.

Oh no, I was still wearing Xavier's jacket!

"Oh, this is Xavier's jacket, I was cold so he-"

"That son of a bitch!" Midas spit before he ran up the stairs.

I chased after him into the Agency, he started running to the stairs and ran down them. He started heading towards Xavier's room. When he got to Xavier's room he opened the door to see that Xavier wasn't in there. He turned and look at me, tears filling his eyes, his eyes showed he was hurt and angry. He didn't know how to react, but I can't blame him. His wife is wearing another man's jacket, and that man happens to love his wife and used to be her bestfriend and lover. He was afraid of losing her to this man that just barged back into his wife's life. 

Midas ran past me and headed back up the stairs, running towards the lounge room. He was determined to find Xavier and figure everything out, or end Xavier. I just followed Midas as he ran through the hallways shoving henchmen out of his way. I could hear his soft sobs as he ran towards the lounge room. Once he got to the door he aggressively opened the door and quickly ran inside. I followed him to see Tina, Bomb, Tek, Skye, and Meow sitting on the couches playing a board game together. I saw Xavier over by the counter getting snacks. 

Once Midas saw Xavier he ran over to him and punched him across the face. Xavier held his face and stood up straight again, he tried to swing at Midas just for Midas to dodge it. Midas grabbed the collar of Xavier's shirt and lifted him up off the floor. He slammed his up against the wall as he had tears streaming down his red, puffy face. Midas took a deep breath before he began.

"What the FUCK do you think you're doing!? She's my wife, why are you even trying? Do you think she will choose you over me?" Midas screamed.

"She's already chosen who she wants!" Xavier yelled back.

"Oh really, you just now realized she chose..."

"Me" both Midas and Xavier said.

Midas pushed Xavier into the wall more with a confused expression on his face. He still had tears building up in his eyes. 

"What do you mean by you!?" Midas aggressively spat.

"Tonight we talked about our childhood memories, I leaned in and kissed your wife and your wife kissed me back. She can't lie this time I have proof she did this" Xavier smirked.

My heart shattered right there on the spot. My childhood bestfriend coming back into my life wanting to start right where we left off. All he has done is ruin my life, everything keeps going wrong now that he is back. I don't know what to do nor how to react to this situation I'm in. 

I looked at both Midas and Xavier, Midas let go of Xavier and turned to face me. His eyes were puffy and red, his nose was also red an was runny, he had tears going down his already wet cheeks. 

"Did you?" Midas almost whispered.

I stood there silently as tears began to build up in my eyes. What was I supposed to say? No, and then lie to him or say yes and tell him the painful truth. I sighed before I made eye contact with him again. 

"We were sitting there and it was the spur of the moment, I'm tired and unable to think clearly. I just don't know what to say" I cried. 

"Y/n, why would you do this to me? We got married and even almost had a kid until Drift ruined that. Then someone you loved 10 years ago comes back and now you don't know what to do? Y/n you can't have both of us you have to chose one." Midas sighed.
