A few more days had gone by. We were finally getting closer to Fontaine.

The merchants route Childe spoke of was where we currently were travelling.

We both kept our eyes open looking for anyone who may resemble a merchant.

"Do you really think we'll find one?" I was currently walking beside Childe with his bow on my back.

Childe smiled and nodded his head.

"Hopefully. Hey wait a second."

Childe stopped us both and reached back for his spears.

He was listening for something.

I tried to listen too but my hearing wasn't as good as his.

"Someones nearby."

Childe ran for one of the trees and I followed after him.

"What i—"

He put a hand over my mouth and pushed me right into him. Both of our bodies hidden from view and now I could hear it.

They were headed right in the same way we were just walking.

"Did you hear about what happened?"

My ears perked up and Childe pushed me even closer into him. My back was against his chest.
Neither of us dared to move.

"Yes its amazing isn't it. This upcoming trial is going to be massive."

Someone was on trial...?

"It'll be starting soon. We should really go back as soon as we can."

I glanced up at Childe. His eyes seemed to hardened. He was listening in just as I was.

We waited a bit before they were far enough. Childe dropped his hand from my mouth and let out a sigh.

"A trial?" I inquired.

Childe nodded and peeked back out from behind the tree.

"So are you going to explain?" I asked still looking up at him.

A brief smile crossed his lips and he finally looked down at me.

"Sure. You can say its apart of the job we've got to do."
