First Christmas

Prompt: the first Christmas without your loved ones is the toughest time

TW: Death, House fire, grief

AN: A sad Christmas one shot not what i had in mind but after getting the new i lost my Aunt today (Monday) and with it being the first Christmas without my grandad i thought this was the way to go and get my feeling out of me in the best way i know how, i'm sorry if its all over the place my brain is a mess right now, but i keep going for you all my little Alchemist sorry for the false hope in the title

You were sat outside on the doorstep looking up at stars and let out a slow breath and wiped the tears that had fallen down your cheek away before hearing your phone ring from next to you which made you jump but quickly answered it and saw it was Autumn ringing you which confused you slightly but you answered it anyway "hello" you say and cleared your throat to make it sound like you hadn't been crying "hi Y/N, I was ringing to see if you were still coming to the Christmas drinks tonight" you heard Autumn ask and you let out a breath before replying "sorry Autumn but not tonight" you say down the phone and wiped the tears that kept falling and let out a sniffle "are you okay" you heard Autumn ask and you nodded before realising she couldn't see you "yeah I'm fine, but have a drink for me tonight, see you later Autumn" you say to her before hanging up the phone and placed it back down next to you on the step. You were still on the step when you heard and saw a car stop outside your drive and you recognised the car as Autumn's and you were confused why she was at your home, you watched as Autumn climbed out her car and walk over to where you were sat on the steps "why you here Autumn" you asked the woman and saw her stare at you before seeing her move to sit next to you on the step "I'm here because you might try to make yourself sound fine on the phone but I could tell you weren't and I was right since your sat outside in the freezing cold crying" you heard Autumn explain and you let out a sigh at being caught out "I'm fine, you can go" you say to her and see her shake her head at you "not till you tell me why you are sat outside crying" you heard her say and you let out a breath "it's the first Christmas without my family" you say softly and look up at the dark sky again "what do you mean" you hear her ask and you knew that you would have to reveal the secret you have kept from everyone you work with "I never told anyone but 3 months ago I lost my whole family in a house fire whilst I was at work, my parents and younger siblings didn't make it" you explain quietly and heard a gasp come from Autumn and you couldn't look at her so kept your eyes on the sky.

Keeping your eyes on the sky you heard "I'm so sorry sweetie, how come you never said anything" come from Autumn and you finally look at her "I didn't know how to, everything just happened one minute I had my family and then they were gone, I never got to say goodbye and my sisters were only 2 years old and had so much life ahead of them but now they're gone and my parents were the best parents and always made sure I was okay and had everything, I just carried on like normal at work but after I left work I came home and processed everything" you tried to explain and felt Autumn wrap an arm around your shoulder and you rested your head on her shoulder "I get that sweetie, I wished you came to us though so we could help you through this, nobody should have to deal with something like this on their own especially a 21 year old" you heard her whisper and you finally let the tears that were trying to fall actually fall and slowly they turned into fast tears and soon you were sobbing into Autumn's shoulder "I miss them so much and Christmas was my sisters favourite time of year even if they were two years old, I miss my mums homemade cookies and I have the recipe but I just can't bring myself to bake them and I miss my dads bad singing to Christmas songs which would get worse with each song" you say after calming down and wiped your tears from your cheeks "come here sweetie" you heard Autumn say and you were shocked to feel her pull you on her lap but you snuggled into her when you felt the warmth from her body "how long have you been sat outside for your freezing" you heard Autumn whisper to you when you pressed your head against her neck slightly and shrugged your shoulder "don't know, lost track of time" you say quietly and saw Autumn wrap her coat around you slightly and with the warmth from Autumn and her steady breathing you slowly started to drift into a sleep before soon everything slowly went dark and you slipped into a sleep. Autumn felt your breathing even out and she looked down to see you had fallen asleep on her lap before pulling her phone out her pocket and dialled a number "Marjorie" she says down the phone after hearing it connect "Autumn is everything okay, I thought we were meeting in an hour" she heard Marjorie say to her down the phone and she quickly looked down to see you were still asleep "we were but change of plans, you need to get everyone to Y/N's house promptly" she replied back to Marjorie after coming up with a plan to make you feel not as alone this Christmas "why what's going on" she heard Marjorie explain and she let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose "just do it Marjorie, I will explain everything once everyone is here" she says softly to not wake you up "okay, what time or now" she heard Marjorie ask her "now" she simply says before hanging up the phone and with a soft groan she stood up with you in her arms and carried you into your home before placing you on your couch when she found the living room and she noticed you hadn't even put up Christmas decorations or anything around the home.
