Homecoming

Prompt: you come home early in time for christmas after being away for 2 years and surprise your mum

AN: this is todays Christmas one shot that would've been out at midnight but its out, but after today i will be taking a day off since my mind and body is wrecked from work and writing, i will be back sunday with regular updates again but if you haven't seen my announcement then go check it out because the plans for new year are wild, just a short one but on with the story 

Siobhan let out a sigh and lent back into the office chair she was sat on and looked at the picture that was sat on her desk in a frame, picking up the frame she smiled gently at the photo of her and her daughter "come home safe" she whispered to the picture before placing it back on her desk and tried to focus on her work but all she could think about was that you were safe and would hopefully come home to her safe and sound, she heard footsteps walking towards the office and looked up to see Marjorie entering her office "Marjorie" she says to the woman in a bored tone "Siobhan" she heard Marjorie say in the same tone and she raised an eyebrow at the woman "what can I do for you Marjorie" she asked the manager of the other nursery "I just had this delivered to my nursery but it is addressed to you so I brought it for you" she heard Marjorie say and saw her pass a envelope over to her "Thank you Marjorie" she says to Marjorie and placed the envelope in front off her and she noticed the writing on the envelope belonged to you and she couldn't wait to read it when Marjorie had left her office. She saw Marjorie nod at her before seeing her leave the office, once she knew Marjorie was not near the office, she slowly opened the envelope and smiled when she saw it was letter from you and began reading the letter, as she read the letter she felt tears slowly well up in her eyes and she wiped them away before they fell but she was glad that you were being safe and would be home in time for Christmas hopefully, Siobhan lent back into the office chair and said a little prayer to whoever was watching over you since she couldn't keep you safe herself before turning back to her work that she had to get done for the day but every know and again she glanced at the letter and picture frame next to her.

You finally landed back in the UK after being stationed in another country for the last 2 years and you couldn't wait to see your mum again after not seeing her for 2 years and in the letter you had sent her told her you would be home for Christmas but you had gotten early leave and was home 2 weeks earlier than planned, leaving the plane with your troops who were also arriving back into UK but also your friends since you were in the same convoy as them all and as you left the plane you heard cheering and clapping from the other passengers and from people who were at the airport, slowly walking down the steps you watched as your friends ran to their loved ones and you couldn't wait to do the same but since you hadn't told your mum when you would be home you knew she wasn't waiting for you at the airport like everyone else but you were going to go and surprise your mum at her work which you was excited for. Making your way to the taxi you climbed in and smiled at the driver "the Knight Nursery please" you say to the drive and saw him nod at you before feeling him set off in the right direction, you leaned back into the seat and watched the streets pass by and felt yourself relax slightly before feeling the car come to a stop "is it this one or the other one" you heard the driver ask you which made you chuckle "the other one, sorry I should've been more clearer" you say with an apologetic smile to the driver "no worries" you heard him say before feeling the car set off again to the right nursery, you saw the driver pull up in front of the nursery your mum works at and went to pay him but was met with a shake of the drivers head before hearing "this one is on the house, thank you for your service" come from him and you smiled "thank you, but you didn't have to" you say to him before climbing out the car and grabbed your rucksack from the back as well before heading into the car park of the nursery.

Walking up the car park you noticed a brunette woman leaving the building and quickly made your way over to her to see if she could help you with the surprise for your mum "hi, I'm sorry for disturbing you" you say to her and see her look up at you before seeing her glance at your uniform you were wearing "it's okay" you heard her say in a soft voice which made you smile at her "I was wondering if Siobhan is in" you ask her and called your mum by her name because you were certain from the letters your mum had sent to you made it seem like nobody knew she had a daughter "she is in, can I ask why you are looking for her" you heard the brunette ask with a tilt of her head "I can't tell you why but could you get her to come out here somehow, tell her a parent is causing a fuss in the car park" you say to her and see her give you a weird look before nodding at you "I can but why" you hear her ask and you just smile at her "all will be revealed" you say to her with a shrug of your shoulders and saw her nod before seeing her turn to walk back into the building. You were hidden near your mum's car and waited for her to come out to the car park but what you hadn't noticed was that people who your mum worked with had pulled up into the car park and climbed out their cars, you kept an eye on the main door before seeing your mum leave the building with the brunette and heard "Charlotte where are they" come from your mum and saw the brunette point in the direction you was stood before hiding "they were over there" you heard the brunette say but as your mum turned to look at the brunette you slowly walked out your hiding place and saw your mum stop in her tracks and freeze from seeing you which made you smile at her reaction before waving at her "hi" you whisper and dropped your rucksack before running towards her.

Siobhan walked out the building with Charlotte behind her "Charlotte where are they" she asked the brunette woman after being told about parents making a fuss in the car park that she had to deal with and she was already on edge since she hadn't heard from you since your last letter had arrived and she normally gets them every few weeks from you but since her last letter she hadn't heard anything and she was worried that something had happened to you and she hadn't been informed, walking down the steps slightly she heard "they were over there" come from Charlotte and she looked round the car before turning to face Charlotte but she saw movement in the corner of her eye and she looked in the direction of the movement before freezing when she recognised who was in the car park and caught her attention, she turned to face you before hearing a "hi" come from you quietly followed by a wave and she just stood there in shock as she watched you drop the rucksack from your shoulder and rush over to her. She opened her arms and let you fly into them before picking you up and hugging you tightly whilst spinning on the spot from the force of you running into her arms "baby" she sobbed and felt you cling to her tightly "mumma, I've missed you" she heard you cry into her neck and she slowly put you on the floor before moving back to check you over "a head, toes, both hands, your whole baby" she mumbled whilst moving around to look at your whole body "no injuries mumma, apart from a few cuts and bruises" she heard you mumble at her and she came back to the front of you to look at you properly "baby" she whispered before hugging you again tightly and felt you return the hug "I'm home mumma" she heard you mumble and she felt her body relax knowing you were safe and sound with her again.

You felt your mum relax against you when you told her you were home which made you smile into her neck before pulling away when you heard "Siobhan what is going on" come from the brunette that helped you and turned to face her with a smile "thank you for getting her out of the building without revealing anything and to answer your question I'm Y/N Serpent" you introduce yourself and heard gasps come from the other side of the car park and turned to see a few more adults stood there watching you and your mum "everyone this is my daughter and you had just interrupted our moment after I have not seen her for 2 years" you heard your mum say to everyone which made you laugh at her "I've missed you mum" you say and feel her give you a kiss on the forehead "well they did" you heard her mumble against your forehead which made you chuckle since you understood why she was frustrated "daughter, how did we not know you had a daughter" you heard a woman say and saw your mum turn to the woman "Marjorie how would you tell your co workers that your child was off fighting wars in other countries" you heard your mum say in a blunt tone to the woman called Marjorie "wait what" you heard the brunette behind your mum say "I'm in the army, I haven't seen my mum in 2 years due to being stationed in a country for them 2 years" you say and see her go wide eyed at your explanation. You turned back to your mum and tapped her on the shoulder "I'm home okay, you can relax knowing I'm safe" you say to her and brought her in for a hug knowing that she would be on edge from not hearing from you for a few weeks "yeah, but you will be leaving again soon and I will worry all over again" you heard her say and you let her go so you could look her in the eyes as you told her something you knew she would like to hear "actually you won't have to worry anymore" you say to her with a smile and saw her look at you with a confused face "I'm officially unenrolled from the service after 12 years of being in the army and will be home for good, merry Christmas mum" you say to her and as you explained you saw her eyes widen before feeling her hug you tightly "really, you're not leaving again ever" you heard her mumble and you nod slowly "I'm home for good mumma" you say to her softly and feel her let you go "best Christmas present" you heard her say and you chuckle at her knowing this wouldn't be a Christmas you forgot anytime soon "I know mum, merry Christmas" you whisper to her and hug her one more time feeling your body relax against your mum's for the first time in 2 years.
