Tobin POV

That night I got home around 1am. Everyone was asleep but Kelley.
"We have to stop meeting like this." She joked. I gave her a small laugh and sat at the dining room table with her.
"So what happened this time?" She asked. I told her everything. From the park, to her dad, to the gun, to the almost sex to the dancing. She listened intently, nodding along and giving small input. After I finished she leaned back and looked at me.
"So let me get this straight," she said, "this girl, that you've been head over heels in love with, offered you sex and possibly a relationship, and you said no?" She asked.
"Listen Kel-" she cut me off.
"Just hang on a second. I get that you were trying to be the hero and tell her no, which, yes, was probably the better thing, but you have been in love with Alex for almost four years. And three of those you spent away from her. And now you come back home, see her, realize you have these feelings, get the opportunity to show them, and you just say no." I let out a sigh.
"We're both in relationships." I said.
"Your relationship with Brooke is a fucking joke." She said. I wanted to be mad but she was right.
"It's not. And I'm not head over heels in love with Alex." I tried to defend myself.
"Oh please Tobin, you think I don't hear you when you stay awake in hotel rooms or on busses or planes writing songs for Alex? You think I haven't heard 'Beautiful Goodbye'? 'Free Falling'? 'Crazy Beautiful'? 'I'm Yours'? 'Kiss Me Darling'? 'In My Life' and countless others? Tobs, you love her. Why can't you just get that through your think skull?" She asked.
"Because I can't love her Kel."
"Why not?"
"Because it just won't work." I said. "It's too complicated, we're both seeing people." Kelley rolled her eyes at this.
"Even if we weren't, Kel she's way too good for me. She deserves someone better than me and we both know it." She let out a sigh and looked at me.
"Can I show you something?" I asked. She nodded so I ran to my room to get my guitar. I sat down and started playing.

I let out a sigh and put my hands over my face.
"What am I gunna do Kel?"
"Tobin, that girl loves you almost as much as you love her. Maybe more. She needs you. And she's starting to see that. You need each other." Kelley gave me a pat on the back and got up. Too tired to think anymore, I went to bed.
The next morning, I texted Alex and asked her to meet me at Adams field. I had something I needed to tell her.
