Tobin POV

It was 5:30 in the morning. I pulled on a spring wetsuit up to my waist and a hoodie over my head. I packed a bag with sweats, wetsuit boots and gloves, wax, and an extra leash. There was a light knock on the door. I turned to make sure Alex wasn't awake. I left her with a kiss on the forehead and a note on her nightstand. I grabbed my favorite surfboard and went downstairs to see my friends.
"Hey guys." I nodded.
"Hello our soon-to-be-married friend." Kelley said.
"Still got about 12 more hours of not being married." I laughed. We walked down to the beach and paddled out. We all caught a few waves and eventually we're all back together sitting past the breakers. She all sat on our boards talking.
"Damn. I can't believe THE Tobin Heath is getting married. Married. To a great girl I might add." Kelley smiled.
"I just can't believe it's you doing this Tobs." Ash said.
"Yeah, I know." I laughed.
"I mean, you. One women for the rest of your life." JJ said.
"Yeah..." I trailed off.
"I mean, I couldn't do it." She said. "Having everything laid out for you, nothing new happening, is just feel like I'm losing something." Kelley let out a fake laugh.
"Hey, JJ, shut up." She said.
"What? I just don't understand it. I think your life is over." She said.
I starred back to the coastline. I could see our building from here, so much so I could see our window with Alex in it. She walked out to the kitchen. I could see the note in her hand. She smiled it and folded it up, putting it in her pocket. My friends were still talking but I couldn't hear them. I paddled in and picked up my board. I heard my friends calling after me but I had a good lead on them. I hoisted my board into my car across the street. I drove. I didn't have a plan. But I drove. For hours. No destination in mind. Just driving. I didn't know what I was thinking. Was I really getting married today? My phone started to ring. Two missed calls from Kelley already and one from Ash. I drove up this long winding road, until I finally stopped somewhere. I got out of the car and walked down the path. I stopped when I got where I needed to go and sat down.
Heath
The word screamed to me. I could hear my dad in the back of my mind. I hadn't been here in so long.
"Listen, Dad, I'm supposed to get married today. To that girl Alex you met a while ago. And I love her, I do, but I don't know if I can get married Dad. I feel like I'm missing out on something. And what if it went wrong? What if we had a kid and then it went wrong. I swear what happened to you, and I'm not strong enough for that pops. I don't know what to do." I breathed out. Dead silence.
"Cmon, don't be shy." I jokingly said.
"Dad, I-I think I have to leave. Like, leave town for a while. I know it's not the right thing to do. But, I don't, I love you Dad." I got up and ran back to my car. I jumped in and started to drive again. I ended up in Darcy's. By eight, I had drank a lot. I put my head down and let out a sigh. I felt a hand on my back and looked up. It was Kelley.
"Hey." I said.
"Tobs, why don't you come home." She said.
"Kel, I don't know if I can do this." I turned to her.
"Tobs, I know you're scared cuz JJ put Rose idea in your head, and JJ's an idiot. I know you're scared you won't be able to have fun and do new things, but you can. But you can do them with Alex." She said.
"I don't know." I said taking another sip.
"Tobs let me ask you one question. Do you love Alex?" She said. I turned to her.
"I love her more than anything Kel. She's my everything." I said.
"Then you can't do this to her. You can't break her heart on her wedding day. You can't leave her because she loves you too." She said.
"You're right." I said.
"Cmon, let's go, I got Alex's friends stalling her, you're running out of time." She said.
I got back in the car and drove to the band's place, I couldn't go home because I wasn't allowed to see Alex yet. Kelley had my clothes hanging up. I sat on the bed starting at them. I stood up, I had made my choice.
