Tobin POV

I payed for lunch and started to walk to my old house to see my friends. I was happy. The plan was working perfectly and soon enough Alex would be my fiancé. I was so happy, I was whistling as I walked. I reached the house and opened the door.
"Hey guys. So guess what, The plan is-" my friends cut me off.
"Tobin, thank GOD, we were just about to start looking for you." JJ said. I looked, they all had jackets on.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Brianna told Alex she wants to marry her." Kelley said.
"Wh-wh-who-where-why- what?" I yelled.
"Yeah, we were gunna go find you to tell you to stop messing with her!" Ash said.
"Oh my god." I said. "She's not supposed to ask my girlfriend to marry her, I'm supposed to do that!"
"I know!" They all said.
"You know what? You know what I'm gunna do? I'm gunna go over there and kick her ass." I said.
"Woah woah, Tobs, that's not gunna help, just, go find Alex." JJ said.
"No yeah, you're right. I'm gunna find Alex and I'm just gunna propose. I'm just gunna do it. Ok, I'll go look for her, you guys go back to our place and see if she comes home." I felt for the ring in my pocket. I ran out of the house to go find her. I looked everywhere. Anywhere she likes, knows of, anything. I almost gave up when I got a text from Kelley.

Kelley- Hey, she may have gone to find Brianna. She staying at the LaReine hotel, room 12A. Don't ask, just go.

I put my phone in my pocket and started to run to the hotel. I ran up the stairs to the door. I knocked quite loudly five times until the door swung open to reveal Brianna.
"Tobin." She said.
"Where is she?" I growled.
"I'm sorry, but she's not here." I barged passed her and into the room.
"Please come in." She sarcastically said behind me.
"Scotch on the rocks? With a twist?" I scoffed.
"Alex? Alex?" I yelled looking for her in the apartment.
"Ok, she was here. But she's not anymore."
"Well where'd she go?" I asked.
"Well, she said she had to think things over." Brianna said with a mocking tone. I let out an angry sigh.
"Oh my god, I can't believe this." I said.
"Look nothing happened." She said.
"Nothing happened?" I asked. "So you didn't tell my girlfriend that you love her? You didn't say you wanna marry her?" I asked again.
"Alright well two things happened." She said.
"You-you know what you did? Because of you my girlfriend is out there thinking things over. You made my girlfriend think!" I yelled, which in hindsight, probably wasn't the best choice of words.
"I'm sorry." She said. I sighed.
"Well what does she have to think about? I love her." I said.
"Well apparently I'm willing to offer her things, that you're not." She said.
"But I am willing to offer her all those things. This was just a plan, to throw her off course so that when I did offer her those things she'd be surprised." I said.
"Well if it helps, it worked very well." She said. I started to walk away from her then turned around.
"This isn't fair. You had your chance. You had your chance with her and you blew it! And now it's my chance and I'm not gunna blow it because we, are meant for each other. This is all just one big mistake." I said down on the couch. "I was gunna propose tonight." I said.
"I even got a ring." I took it from my pocket. She sat down next to me. "Did you get a ring?" I asked.
"No, no I don't have a ring." She sighed. She turned to me.
"Go get her Tobin. And can I give you a piece of advice?" I nodded. "If you do get her, don't let her go. Trust me." She said.
"You know Brianna." I said, "You, you're a good person." She nodded.
"I know." She said. "I hate that." I smiled a bit then jumped up. I pat her on the back and ran out. I got halfway down the hall way when I realized I forgot something. I ran back in and opened her door. She was sat in the couch facing the other way. She held the box with the ring over her head.
"Thank you!" I said as I grabbed it and ran out again.
I started running home to see if Alex stopped by there. I was out of breath and a bit sweaty. I climbed the stairs to our apartment to see my friends sitting outside the door way.
"Tobin!" Ash said. I ran to them.
"Guys, I can't talk I gotta find Alex-" they cut me off.
"She's gone." JJ said.
"What?" I asked.
"Yeah, she had a bag and she left." Kelley said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, my voice starting to break.
"She was all crying and she said you guys wanted different things and that she needed time to think." Ash responded.
"Well why didn't you stole her? Why didn't you tell her it was just a plan?" I asked starting to yell.
"I tried. I told her everything Tobs, she wouldn't believe me." JJ said quietly.
"Well where...where did she go?" I asked.
"To her parents, I think. And she said you shouldn't call her. But-but if I were you, I would." Kelley said.
"I can't believe I ruined this." I said.
"I'm so sorry man." Ash said. I sighed and shrugged her off. I lazily opened the door to our condo. The lights were off, but it was so bright. Candles lit up the entire room. I looked around at all them and saw Alex in the center.
"You wanted it to be a surprise." She whispered. I turned back to see my friends in the door way. They smiled and shut the door.
"Oh my god." I whispered. Alex smiled. And then she got down on one knee.
"Tobs," she said, "in all my life, never did I expect to fall for you, but I'm so happy that- that-" she stuttered as she started to cry, "there's a reason why we said you'd be the one to do this!" She cried harder. I dropped to my knee to take her hands in mines
"Ok, it's ok, I'll do it." I smiled. I let out a deep breath. I tried to speak, but I got chocked up.
"No wait, I can do this." I said. We both laughed.
"I thought, it mattered, how much I had, who I was, what I looked like, and where I came from. But with you, none of that mattered. Because I wasn't just some high school drop out to you. You always believed in me. And because of that, you made me realize that you, you make me happier than I ever thought I could be. And if you let me, I'll spend the rest of my life, trying to make you feel the same." Tears streamed down her face, but she smiled.
"Alex I love you more than life itself. Will you marry me?" I asked as I opened the ring box to her." She chuckled then nodded.
"Yes, yes." I took out the rings and put it in her finger. She longed forward to wrap her arms around my neck.
"I knew you were likely to take a wife!" She said through tears. Not quite sure what she meant, I just smiled along and hugged her back. Our moment was interrupted shortly after.
"Can we come in yet? We're dying out here!" Kelley called from the other side of the door. We stood up.
"Come in!" Alex called, her voice still shaky. The three of them burst through the door and looked us over.
"We're engaged!" Alex said. They all cheered and hugged us. Kelley patted me on the back and we all broke apart. We all talked for a little bit before I pitched an idea.
"Hey, I say we all get dressed up and go celebrate tonight, huh?" I asked. Everyone agreed and dispersed to put in nice clothes. I closed the door and turned to Alex who started at me with a big smile. I walked back to Alex a wrapped her in a bone crushing hug. She sighed into me and hugged back. I leaned down and flicked on the radio on the table. Hearing the song that came on, we both laughed, it was one of mine. I smiled down to her as we started to sway to the music.

Said all I want from you is to see you tomorrow
And every tomorrow, maybe you'll let me borrow your heart
And is it too much to ask for every Sunday
And while we're at it, throw in every other day to start

Do you remember this song?" I asked.
"Of course." She whispered. "You wrote this for me back in high school. It was right after we got together. You said you were trying to say that even if you didn't have a lot, you loved me." She said.
"And it's all still true.

I know people make promises all the time
Then they turn right around and break them
When someone cuts your heart open with a knife, now you're bleeding
But I could be that guy to heal it over time
And I won't stop until you believe it
'Cause baby you're worth it

So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me
'Cause you might fuck around to find your dreams come true, with me
Spent all your time and your money just to find out that my love was free
So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
It's not a bad thing to fall in love with me, me

"Hey." She whispered. "I want you to know, falling in love with you was never a bad thing, it was the best thing I ever did." I felt her smile in the crook of my neck.
"It was worth every second. Every fight, every night apart, all of it. And I'd do it all over again to know you're coming home to me." She said.
"I'm all yours." I said.

Now how about I'd be the last voice you hear tonight?
And every other night for the rest of the nights that there are
Every morning I just wanna see you staring back at me
'Cause I know that's a good place to start

I know people make promises all the time
Then they turn right around and break them
When someone cuts your heart open with a knife, now you're bleeding
Don't you know that I could be that guy to heal it over time
And I won't stop until you believe it
'Cause baby you're worth it

So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me
'Cause you might fuck around to find your dreams come true, with me
Spent all your time and your money just to find out that my love was free
So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
It's not a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
Not such a bad thing to fall in love with me

No I won't fill your mind
With broken promises and wasted time
And if you fall, you'll always land right in these arms
These arms of mine

Don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me
'Cause you might fuck around to find your dreams come true, with me
Spent all your time and your money just to find out that my love was free
So don't act like it's a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
It's not a bad thing to fall in love with me, me
Not such a bad thing to fall in love with me

We pulled back and I smiled to her. Her smiled was small and she glanced at the floor. I put a finger under her chin to get her to look at me.
"You ok?" I asked. She slowly leaned in for a soft, loving kiss.
"I've never been happier. And you better believe you made me feel that way."
