Alex POV
"So...now what?" Tobin asked, still holding me. I let go and took her hand.
"Come inside." I whispered. She turned and Kelley nodded to her as if to say, "Go, I'll take care of the stuff."
I led her inside and into the living room. I turned the tv on to a random movie. I turned around to see her standing in front of the couch with her hands in her pockets.
"C'mere." I whispered. She walked towards me and I leaned against her chest as she wrapped me in a hug. I felt her kiss the top of my head and I took her jacket off of her. I sat us down and she slipped of her shoes. She put her feet up on the coffee table and I curled into her side. She reached down and picked up a blanket to wrap it around us. We drifted to sleep soon after.
The next morning I woke up to someone clearing their throat. My eyes fluttered open and landed on my mom. She stood with her arms crossed looking down on us. I tried to sit up, but realized Tobin's arms were still draped around me. I carefully listed them off and sat up.
"Mom..." I started.
"Shh." She cut me off. She motioned for us to walk to a different room. I obliged and hung my head as I walked behind her. We made it to the kitchen and she turned to me. I looked up to her.
"Mom I..." She stopped me.
"Is that that girl Tobin from three years ago?" She asked. I nodded my head. She let out a sigh and out her hands in my shoulders.
"Alex, I'm going to give you 10 minutes to get her out of here."
"But mom-"
"I don't wanna hear it." She walked away. I was baffled. I couldn't believe her. Without knowing what to do, I walked to the living room to get Tobin. I shook her awake, explained the situation, and helped her father her stuff.
"Wait wait wait." She said. I looked up at her.
"What, are we?" She said. I sighed.
"I don't know. I can't just jump right back into being with you Tobin. We've both done some things we shouldn't have, but, you broke my heart, multiple times."
"Alex I know and I'm-" my mom yelled from another room, cutting her off.
"Six minutes!"
We looked at each other.
"Alex, please, I know how hard it must be. But I really do love you."
"Then why weren't you with me?" I asked.
"Because Al-" she stopped herself. She seemed to be thinking of something.
"Because I-"
"Four minutes!" She sighed.
"How about this. Can we start over? Can we be strangers again? Let me introduce myself. We can laugh and talk and relearn what we already know and come up with new inside jokes. We can create new memories and give each other a second chance." I let out a sigh.
"Tobin I still love you. And I'd really like that. But I have to know that you really love me, and will stay with me."
"Alex-"
"One minute!"
She rolled her eyes.
"Ok. Then I'll show you that I love you and wanna be with you." She said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean I'll do whatever it takes to show you that I love you more than anything in the world." She smiled at me.
"How?" I laughed.
"I'll figure it out." She smiled and took my hands.
"30 seconds!"
She laughed this time as she leaned down to kiss me. Our lips connected.
"20 seconds!"
I put my hands behind her neck.
"15 seconds!"
Her arms snaked around my waste.
"10 seconds."
I smiled into the kiss.
"Nine!"
She bit my lip.
"Eight!" We heard footsteps coming towards us.
"Seven!"
She held me tighter.
"Six!"
I laughed a bit.
"Five!"
I felt her hands travel lower.
"Four!"
The steps got closer.
"Three!"
She laughed this time.
"Two!"
We pulled away and I rested our foreheads together.
"One!"
I heard my mother walk up to us.
"Bye." Tobin whispered as she leaned in to peck my lips once more.
"Times up!" My mother said pulling Tobin away by her hood. Tobin laughed which made me laugh too. Stumbling backwards, she looked to my mom.
"So nice to see you again Mrs. Morgan." She said with a smile. She looked up at me and raised an eyebrow. I smiled back at her and gave her a little wave. My mom nudged her out the door and shut it. I giggled to myself and headed upstairs.
I was up on my room when my mom called me down.
"Alex! There's someone asking for you!" She yelled. I walked downstairs to find Kelley at the door.
"Hey Kel!" I said and invited her inside.
"Hey Alex, I can't stay long, I gotta be somewhere, but there's something I've been meaning to ask you." She said.
"What's up?" I asked taking a seat at the dining table.
"Are you busy tonight?" She said.
"Are you asking me out Kel?" I laughed.
"You wish." She responded.
"But no, I'm free." I said.
"Perfect," she took a seat, "because tonight there's a party for our album release at the record company." I nodded my head.
"I wanted to invite you because you did have a lot to do with the band, and possibly more in the future." Kelley said dragging out the last word.
"I don't know Kel." I laughed.
"What do you mean?" She said.
"Well, I gave Tobin a chance to be with me, and she didn't take it, so, how can she really love me?" I said looking down.
"She didn't tell you did she?" Kelley said leaning back and sighing.
"No. Tell me what?" I asked confused.
"About Ali?" My eyes bugged out. Was that what she was trying to say. I shook my head no.
"A couple of weeks ago, Ali called her up and had her meet her at that coffee place. She told Tobin she wasn't good enough for you. That she didn't make you happy and that you deserved better. And you know Tobin, things like that usually just roll off her back, but when it comes to you, every word matters to her. She believed it. I mean, let's be honest, she doesn't have the best record. But she said you were so amazing, she just didn't wanna hurt you again. So she kept her distance." Kelley finished. I put my head in my hands.
"This makes so much sense now. Is that why she was with Brooke?" Kelley nodded.
"She said she'd do whatever it took to forget about you." I let out a sigh.
"Ok. Ok. Ok." I thought for awhile.
"So...party?" Kelley asked.
"I'm in." I said, "What time?"
"Seven o'clock, formal." She said. I nodded.
"Alright, see ya later kid." She hugged me and was on her way, I was up to my room to find a dress. I looked through maybe 20 dresses before finding one I liked. It was a light blue color with one strap on my left shoulder and it flowed out a bit when it reached my knees. My hair was tied back in a bun. I slipped out without my mom noticing and got in my car. Kelley sent me the address but I knew where the studio was, I remembered. I parked my car and walked in. I followed the directions and made it to the party room. I walked into a huge open room with maybe 60 people. There was food and drink and a piano smack in the middle. If I remembered anything about Tobin, I knew this wasn't her kind of party. My suspicions were confirmed when I looked over and saw her gesture to all the people and roll her eyes, but then smile. I grinned to myself. Suddenly she looked up and we made eye contact. Here goes nothing.
