Alex POV

We drove to the studio, everyone talking to one another. I heard JJ and Ash engaged in a very odd conversation. Something about an alpaca and a baseball game. We arrived at the studio and they let themselves in, knowing Cindy would be there. They all greeted each other.
"So what are you guys doing here?" She asked.
"Tobs got us that new song, so we figured we'd come by and show you." She nodded in approval.
"Oh and so nice of you to join us Alice!" Cindy exclaimed.
"Alex." Tobin said sternly.
"Right." Cindy bowed her head. She apologized and Tobin walked into the booth before sending an apologetic look my way. I smiled at her, as if to tell her I was alright. They got in the booth and played the song. Tobin and I held eye contact almost the entire time. I smiled like an idiot back at her. They finished and she sent a wink my way. Her friends clapped and congratulated each other. I looked over and Cindy who seemed worried.
"What's wrong?" Tobin asked.
"It's just that...this song isn't really...on brand." She said.
"On brand?" She asked, confused.
"Well your 'thing' is to be rebellious teenagers who don't follow the rules." She said.
"It was never a 'thing' it's just who we were." Tobin said mocking her.
"I know I know, and your music showed that, but I don't think this song does." She answered.
"Our music shows who we are and how we feel, which is exactly what this song does." Kelley defended.
"Yeah, we still wanna put out music like we usually do, but I write what I feel, and this is how I feel." Tobin added and she smiled shyly at me.
"Ok, yeah I get that. But remember when you toured around the country and you were 'Tobin Heath who never settled down and did what she wanted'!" They nodded along confused.
"Well we also wanna see that. That strong, tough, I'm the man attitude." They looked at each other for a while and started exchanging words we couldn't hear.
"Tobs what about that rap song you wrote in Miami?" Kelley said.
"Oh I don't know Kel, I was wasted that night and a lot had happened." She retorted. Now I was curious as to what was in this song.
"I wanna hear it." Cindy said.
"I don't know if-" Tobin started.
"Tobin Heath I am your manager, agent, and countless other things. I have done a lot for this band, so I suggest you do as I say." Cindy said. Tobin looked at her for a second before scoffing and letting out a "whatever." Kelley walked out of the booth and to the controls so she could play a track they'd saved and do some tweaks, then ran back to the keyboard to play. The music started and Tobin started the chorus.

Got on my leather jacket, thriller
There sure ain't nothin' iller
Man I'm a lady killer, if I want her I'm a steal her
I promise I could make her fly away like caterpillars
So if you don't know by now then you should probably get familiar

Got on my leather jacket, thriller
There sure ain't nothin' iller
Man I'm a lady killer, if I want her I'm a steal her
I promise I could make her fly away like caterpillars
So if you don't know by now then you should probably get familiar

I been through like a hundred cities
Signed a thousand titties, I'm talkin' millions of bitties
I'm a dog, I chase that kitty, if your girlfriend is pretty
Chances are I'm tryin' to snatch so I could slay and take her with me
Bro I'm the man, did you not know that?
Your girl want me to take a picture with her on her Kodak
And you're so whack, she knows that
I be where the coke and smoke at
See her friend and now I'm going for that three like I'm Steve Novak
Don't be mad at me if she leaves
You should always know not to fuck around with thieves
She just wants to kick it with some g's
Smoke some trees, pop some p's, later she'll be on her knees
And I'm gone
So if you really want her for your own
Be worried if I show up on her phone
You don't want to leave the two of us alone
Cause I'm a probably taker her somewhere soon to bone

Got on my leather jacket, thriller
There sure ain't nothin' iller
Man I'm a lady killer, if I want her I'm a steal her
I promise I could make her fly away like caterpillars
So if you don't know by now then you should probably get familiar

Hoodie, oh jeez, goddamn, look at all my followers
Bitches ride the wagon, but I'd rather give her cholera
Many look at me like I ain't even got a fuckin' plan
Alright, that's cause I'm the fuckin' man
Yo girl on some Romeo and Juliet
Cause she would rather kill herself than ever be with you again
So I swoop in and tell her, if her parents don't approve of me
That don't change a goddamn thing, girl, I don't buy no jewelry
Never spendin' money on a necklace
Or a bracelet, let's just face it, like you better when I'm wasted
And you like me when I'm silent, silent but I'm deadly
Me and G some lady killers, let me start the medley like, hello (Hi there)
And please don't put your number in my phone (Don't do that)
Cause I might text you after all of this patron (My bad)
It tends to help me out when I'm feelin' alone (yup... yup)
But I don't wanna go, I don't, I don't wanna go

Got on my leather jacket, thriller
There sure ain't nothin' iller
Man I'm a lady killer, if I want her I'm a steal her
I promise I could make her fly away like caterpillars
So if you don't know by now then you should probably get familiar

The song faded out and I saw a smile present on her face. Sure the song was cool, but that's not what mattered. If I was just a fan, or didn't even know her, that attitude might be considered "cool", but she's the one I wanna be with, and have her to myself, hearing her so those things is depressing, disappointing, and flat out scary. She could sense it too because she looked at me and the smile fell from her face and she looked at me like she wanted to apologize.
"Ok ok, that was good." Cindy said giving them a thumbs us.
"Tobin can I talk to you?" She asked. Tobin seemed confused but agreed. She walked out with her hands in her pockets and Cindy put a hand on her back.
"Ok is it just me or was that...weird?" I asked.
"Oh no, it was weird. And like real weird, not like JJ weird." Ash said, which was followed by a punch in the arm from JJ herself.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Kelley asks.
"I wish I knew." I said.
"Go listen." She said. I was hesitant, but curious it's got the best of me. I walked to the door they went through and pressed my ear to the wood. It was faint, but I could make out what they were saying.
"So tell me again why she's hear." Cindy said.
"Because she's my girlfriend." Tobin said. This wasn't true, but obviously wasn't the point.
"Listen Tobin, I don't think you need a girlfriend."
"I don't think that's for you to decided." She shit back.
"Ok ok, but if you really wanted a girlfriend, why Alex?" She asked. These words hurt.
"Are fucking kidding?" Tobin said. She laughed cynically, "You sound like her parents." She was right.
"I just think you can do better." She said.
"First of all I can't, I'm so fucking lucky that she actually took me back, and second, why do you fucking care?" She said.
"It's complicated." Cindy said.
"How? Your my manager!" Tobin said getting aggravated.
"There's more to it."
"Like what?"
Cindy stayed quiet.
"That's what I thought." I heard Tobin heading for the door so I darted back to my seat.
"Hey what happened?" I asked, trying to sound innocent.
"Oh nothing." She laughed.
"We're good to go guys, let's get out of here." She said as if nothing happened. We liked into the car and she started to drive. I looked at her and reached over and took her hand. She looked at me suspiciously.
"You ok?" She asked quirking and eyebrow.
I nodded my head, "Yeah, I just, wanted to know you were still there." I said.
"Lex, we're in a moving car, I'm not going anywhere." She laughs.
"That's all I wanted to hear." I whisper hoping she didn't hear me. She obviously did when she leaned over and kissed my cheek right below my ear. She pulled back far enough to whisper, "I'm not going anywhere."
