Tobin POV

Alex and I had spent one night in the condo so far. We didn't know what we wanted to do with the old house, so for now we're letting Ash, JJ, and Kelly crash there. I woke up before Alex and looked at our alarm clock, 7:00. I decided to slip downstairs to make some coffee. I poured myself a mug and one for Alex, knowing she'd be up soon enough. I took the paper from outside our door and flipped to one of the stories. I looked up and out the glass doors. It's a beautiful day, why am I inside? I picked up my stuff and made my way to the chairs outside. It was beautiful. The sun rising produced these streaks of pink, purple, orange and yellow across the blue background of the sky. A cloud or two hung around the sun. I could see the waves rolling in and crashing on the beach. A seagull flying away before the water got too close. I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else. It was so peaceful. That silence was soon broken when I heard the glass doors opening. I turned to see Alex leaning against the door way. She was in pajamas, a long sleeve shirt of mine and some shorts. Our bed sheet wrapped around her shoulders, sleepy faced and coffee cup in hand. I smiled at her and she smiled back.
"It's been four years, and I still hate it every time I wake up and you're not next to me." She started walking towards me and I motioned for her to sit on my lap. Once she did I kissed her head and brushed some of her hair back.
"Well, I'm never far." I whispered. She sighed into me before leaning up to kiss my lips and then resting her head against my chest. After a while her stomach let out a roar. I started laughing uncontrollably.
"Ok, I'm a liiiiiitttttle hungry." She says showing how little it is by bringing her fingers together.
"You don't say?" I asked still laughing. I picked her up and borough her inside.
"Alright, I say we do pancakes, eggs and bacon, sound good?" I asked putting her down.
"Sounds like you're gunna need some help with that." She giggle giving me a gentle kiss.
"Then why don't you give me a hand." I asked. We four to work making pancake batter and heating up pans. Then I got an idea.
"Hey, this is fun and all, but I think, it could be better." I said flicking on my old radio. The guitar started up and I began dancing around the kitchen.

Well, she was an American girl
Raised on promises

I turned and pointed to Alex

She couldn't help thinkin'
That there was a little more to life somewhere else
After all it was a great big world

I put and arm around her and gestured outward, as if to show the whole world

With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep

I grabbed a wooden spoon and used it as I microphone

O yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby

I made a cool "calm down" gesture to Alex, well I thought it was cool, she kinda just laughed.

Make it last all night
She was an American girl

I put my arms around her and we swayed side to side

Well it was kind of cold that night,
She stood alone on her balcony

I started to kiss her neck, mumbling the words into her. She giggled and squealed.

Yeah, she could hear the cars roll by,
Out on 441 like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment
There he crept back in her memory

I took one of her hands and spun her around, then pulled her into me so it was like we were ballroom dancing

God it's so painful when something that's so close
Is still so far out of reach

I picked her up and spun her around with me. I put her down and we kept dancing.

O yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl

The song came to a close and she started laughing. I leaned my elbows against the counters and laughed too. I felt her looking at me so I looked up.
"I love you." She said between giggles.
"I love you too." I said pulling her in and kissing the side of her head.
"But you know what I love more than you?" She asked. I raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
"What?" I asked. Before I knew it, she'd spread pancake batter across my left cheek. She started to laugh.
"Messy you." I stood there looking at her for a second.
"You're funny, you're funny, but I'll have you know, I won't stoop to your childish level." I turned back to the stove. I saw her face fall. When she was far enough I grabbed to bowl and spun around to put batter across her cheek.
"I'm gunna go even lower." I said smiling.
"Tobin. Powell. Heath." She said.
"Yes?"
"The fake out, I've taught you well." She laughed.
"I believe it was I who taught you."
"You sure about how that?" I took ore batter and spread it across her whole face.
"Pretty sure." I said before running away. After our food fight, we finally got breakfast made and sat down to eat. We were about halfway through the meal when Alex asked me something.
"Hey, so now that I'm officially moving out of my house, I have to tell my mom." She said. I just nodded.
"So I think now is as good a time as any to get you two on good terms." I choked on my eggs when she said this. I coughed and finally got it under control with some water.
"Alex, your mother and I are like oil and water, this isn't gunna go well." I said.
"Yes it will, trust me." She said taking my hands.
"Alex last time I checked your mom said I wasn't good enough for you."
"That was when, no offense, you were a high school drop out with no money to your name. Now you're an international sensation, I think you've got the upper hand." She laughed.
"Lex it's still your mom."
"Yeah but she's getting better Tobin, really. Just a the other day when I spent the night there, I had the radio on and one of your songs was playing, and she said she loved it and asked me who it was. I told her it was you, and she seemed surprised at first, but then just went back to bobbing her head along."
"Alex there's a huge difference between her liking me as a musician and her liking me as the person who her daughter is going to spend the rest of her life with." I said putting my silver where down.
"You wanna spend the rest of our lives together?" She asked smiling as she traces designs on my hand.
"Yeah of course I do." I responded nonchalantly. She leaned in and kissed me.
"Then you'll have to talk to my mom sometime." She whispered. I groaned back.
"Fine fine fine. I'll go, but when this goes to hell, it's your fault." I said standing up and grabbing our plates. I put them in the sink and walked back. I bent down to kiss Alex and then pulled back.
"I'll go get ready." As I turned to walk away Alex gave me a slap on the butt followed by a, "Get in there soldier, and look good." She laughed. I turned around and smiled at her.
"Always do." She scoffed at me before giving in.
"Yeah yeah, you do." She laughed.
