After 6 grueling hours of tears and waiting to hear news on Tyler, we finally got an update as Dr. Hartman came through the door. He came in with a screen like device that probably showed some part of the body. He sat down and began his speech. "First of all, id like to say that for the most part, Tyler will be okay. You're lucky that he was fine but he will need to spend a bit more time in the hospital so he can completely recover. We did some testing and saw that due to him being so premature, he does have a bit of damage to his brain, specifically the part of his brain that is responsible for speech. He will have a speech impediment for he rest of his life, we can't be sure what kind quite yet but we do know he'll most likely not be able to speak for a while longer than other kids, for example your babies may learn to speak at 1 or 2 and he most likely won't be able to speak until 3 or 4, maybe even longer. And when and if he does learn, he'll probably have trouble speaking and will need to see a speech therapist the rest of his life. I was a bit upset by that news of course, but I knew much worse could've happened to him so I was thankful that he was okay. They said we could go home in about a week or two, but Tyler couldn't get and they didn't know when he could. All we could do was wait.
