"He's your what?!??" My dad's voice bellowed from across the table. I flinched a bit at his angry and loud tone, and then my dad started ranting again. "No, no, no. This is not happening, this is not allowed. I am not allowing my fucking daughter to date a 32-year-old university teacher. Not a chance." I was upset, but I was also pretty set in the idea that it's not his choice. If I want to date an older guy, at my age, I completely can.
One Week Later
It had been a week since the incident with my dad and we weren't on the best terms. We were talking, but both of us were still quite mad at each other. I was a little upset, but I was excited to once again see Ty. He hadn't been able to answer any calls or texts and I was aware of that. He was in Africa for break. He goes every year during this time to make sure impoverished people in Africa had food for Thanksgiving, so he had no cell service. I was very happy that I was going to see him today. But, that all changed when I walked into class Monday morning...
