Cathy's POV

The past 2 months Alex and I put all our time and energy into the court case and making sure our 3 amazing children stayed in our custody. The kids were staying at a foster home so that neither Alex and I or Alex's parents could brainwash them into saying anything to help either of our cases. Finally, our day in court had come. We woke up at around eight, got ready and prepared a bit, and then we were out the door and on our way to the courthouse by 11:30, but the case didn't begin till 1:45, we were just going to be preparing with Dina until then. My parents and siblings were coming, as were Aunt Mani, Aunt Ally and Aunt Dinah. Aunt Mani said she'd be driving with Dina, so I was really anxious for them to arrive. The judge said that the kids could appear in court if they wanted, and they agreed. Stephanie obviously couldn't testify, being that she couldn't even say the world testify, so only Gaten and Preston would be taking the stand. It was only a one day court case, as there had already been meetings and appeals and depositions and notarizations, and other court related things that had settled parts of the case ahead of time so that the actual court experience would go much smoother and would be much more cut and dry. Once we arrived at the court house, we were immediately escorted into a back room, kind of like an office, which would serve as our meeting room for the day. We'd hang out there and go over our case before we went into the courtroom in there, we could go there for the recess period, we could go there for a small cool down in case we got too upset during the trial, for the next 5-6 hours of the case, this room would be like our safe haven. After about 5 minutes, Dina came in and we got set up. "Okay, ladies, let's review before we go in, yes?" She began, clasping her hands together in anticipation. "So, what will be our opening statement again?" She asked. Alex responded. "The fact that we love our children very much and would do anything for them. That we'd never hurt them or put them in harm's way in any fashion. That our children mean the world to us and there's no valid reason that they shouldnt be in our care." She said. "Very good, Alex. Now, I'd like you to answer this one Cathy." Dina said. I nodded. "What do we do when Alex's parents pull the 'grandparents have rights too' card?" I thought about it for a moment then answered. "We hit them with the proof that they abandoned Alex and refused to be in her life because she wad gay, and say that we wouldn't want our children to be in jeopardy of feeling that sense of abandonment." I said. Dina smiled. "Very good, she praised. We worked on our case for a little while longer until a woman came into our room and said it was time to go to the courtroom. A man dressed in a police uniform escorted us there. We got to the courtroom and took our seats on the right. In the front row was Alex, myself and Dina. There was a bunch of space behind us, and in the back right audience was all of our supporters, like Alex's aunt, uncle,  her grandpa, her cousin, etc. My side of the family was there as well: my parents, my siblings, my friends, my other relatives, etc. They were all behind us, being supportive as always. I heard the judge come walking up to the stand and began to be quite nervous.

(A/N: so sorry for the late update, I've been really sad and stressed the past two days (if you really wanna know why I'll respond to comments or DM on here) and it took me a while to get inspiration to write, but I feel lost without Wattpad and you guys so I'm backk hahah enjoy)
