Time Skip a few months

Cathy's POV

The past year or so, Gaten had been hanging out with Donna, Hayes and Angela quite a bit. But, I noticed that he and Hayes were unusually close the past couple months and I'd occasionally catch them holding hands or looking at each other a bit too fondly. Obviously if there was something more than a simple friendship going on there I wouldn't be upset, Alex and I were both gay, I kind of expected that one of my children would be to some degree. So, I decided to have a conversation with Gaten and Hayes about it. One day, the kids were over and playing with Gate in the basement when I called them up for dinner. It just so happened that Angela and Donna couldn't stay for dinner because both of their families wanted them home, but Hayes could, and he sat down to dinner with Alex, Gaten, Preston, Stephanie and I. We ate dinner and afterwards, Alex took the two little ones upstairs to get ready for bed, since they called it a night much earlier than we did. I took advantage of the time we had and sat the boys down for a conversation. "Sit down boys, let's have a little chat," I said, so as to not worry them. They sat and I took a deep breath before speaking. "So, obviously you guys have been friends for maybe a little over a year now, right?" I asked. They nodded. "Well, in these past months I've been noticing some odd behavior between the two of you. I just wanted to let you guys know that if anything is going on more-than-friendship-wise between you two, then that's completely okay and no one judges you for it, it's fine. Just be honest with us, yeah?" They looked nervous and I saw Gate start to tear up but he nodded. "Got it mom," He said. "Thanks." He and Hayes got up to hug me and I smiled. "I love both of you boys and I know for a fact Alex feels the same." They smiled and I couldn't be happier. I was so happy and proud to see my boy so proud to be himself, openly and unapologetically.
