Time Skip 1 hour
Cathy's POV
Alex had been on the phone for a little while now, and she had a sad look on her face. "Okay, I'll tell her, we'll be over tomorrow to work out all the details, thank you sir." She said. She hung up the phone and looked at me sadly. "Marie and Barry passed away in their sleep last night. The doctor explained that Barry had a heart attack from all the injuries and the medicine in his system, and Marie's heart just gave out. He said for the most part that they passed away peacefully and that Barry and Marie wanted us to adopt and raise the kids, since they didn't like anyone in the family." Alex said. I nodded. "How should we tell the kids?" I asked, biting my lip. "I think we should ease into it, but then straight up tell them, don't beat around the bush you know?" Alex spoke up.
Time Skip a few hours
Cathy's POV
After a few more hours of deliberating, Alex and I decided that the best course of action would be to just tell the kids. We'd ease into it, of course and then bring the idea of them living with us and becoming our official children up. Stephanie was napping, Preston was coloring, and I was teaching Gaten a few chords on the guitar. We decided to tell them at dinner.
Time Skip a few hours till dinner
Alex's POV
Cathy wanted me to start to tell the kids, because she felt I'd stay strong and do a better job of it. We sat the kids down, and once they all had their food, I started to break the news to them, specifically the boys since Stephanie was only one and wouldn't understand. I explained that Mommy and Daddy went to Heaven, but before they did, they said that they wanted Cathy and I to take care of the kids, so now they'd live with us, but we'd have to sign a lot of papers over the course of a few months to make that happen. Gaten and Preston cried a bit, but they were happy to be living with us. We sat together, ate, mourned and cried for a few more hours.
