Ch. 96 (pt. 3)

(A/N: this court case will go pretty quick, there may be a part 4 to chapter 96, but after that more fluff is coming, then maybe some drama or some sort of plot, idk yet comment ideas lmao 😂)

Time Skip 4 days

Cathy's POV

It had been a week since I confronted Alex's mom, and we had hired my mom's lawyer, Dina LaPolt for this case as we trusted her the most. We were at my parents house, sitting around the table talking about this case with Dina, when Alex brought up a question. "Why is she able to sue us for the rights to kids who she hadn't even fucking meant and has absolutely no rights to?!" She asked, angrily. I held her hand and kissed her cheek in an attempt to calm her down. "She doesn't really have full rights, but she has some rights, callled grandparents rights. Basically, if she feels you two are unfit parents for any reason, she can appeal to the courts for custody of your kids because she feels it's in the best interest of the children. However, she said that the reason she doesn't want them in your care is because of mainly your sexuality, but also she's doing this as a revenge plan against you two for cutting her and her husband out of your lives." Dina explained. "What can we do?" I asked. "Other than fight for the children in court, and maybe counter sue if we win, there's not much else to do." She said, sadly. "But we want our children we have 100% custody of them and Barry and Marie expressly stated in writing that they want us to raise them." Alex said, and I could tell she was getting upset. "Exactly," Dina began. "And that'll be our claim, that their biological parents said in a motorized document that they only want you two to raise the kids. It's hard to counter that, so we should be good there. We already have the upper hand, because the kids are able to speak and say that they want you two to raise them, and we have the parents' express consent. I'm confident that we should be good, I just think that we need a bit more because who knows what the fuck your crazy ass parents are gonna come up with." Dina directed the end of her sentence at Alex jokingly. We laughed and continued to work.
