Time Skip 6 months

Cathy's POV

I was sitting at lunch with Madison and DJ when Alex suddenly cane running over. "Hey Deej, Maddie, baby," she greeted us. "Hey babe," I smiled at her. "I have to ask you something." She said, nervously. "Okay..." I said, hesitantly. "So, you know how since you hate that I smoke that I do it around my other friends who also smoke so you don't have to deal with it?" She asked. "Yeah," I nodded. "Well, Zeke and Damien are wondering if I wanna come with them and a few of the girls on a joyride around town." She explained. "Why are you asking me?" I laughed. "Because we're taking the curvy, hilly roads and we're going in his small 2 door '96 convertible." She said, slightly mumbling so I wouldn't hear her and I'd just agree. She laughed. "Yeah, haha, absolutely fucking not." She started to get angry. "Are you kidding me, Cathy?!" Oh shit, she never ever calls me that, only when she's mad. "Whatever, goodbye." She said and she walked away. "I'm looking out for my girlfriend's best interest, Alexa!! I love you, asshole!!" I screamed after her.

Time Skip to that night

Cathy's POV

I was upstairs in my room, lying on my bed, waiting for Alex to call before my mom walked into the room. "Cathy!! Hurry up, get your coat, get in the car now, it's Alex! She was in a car accident." My eyes went wide and began to fill with tears but I quickly grabbed my coat and shoes and left with my mom to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital and immediately my mom asked the receptionist if I could see Alex. She said yes and I ran in there. I saw her, all bruised and beaten, she looked so small in that big hospital bed. My heart ached. I grabbed a chair and pulled it up to the front of her bed. I gently picked up her hand, and enclosed it between mine. "I love you, Alex. And I'm so so so sorry for yelling and calling you an asshole. I just wish you would've listened to me and stayed home tonight. I would've gladly had you mad at me for a few days if you were okay. I heard you were in a coma. Baby, please push through, for me, your baby? Calex 4/13/22 to infinity remember?" I suddenly looked down at my finger, where my ring was. I hadn't taken it off since that day. I took it off and slipped it on her finger. "Keep this for now, baby, as a reminder to push through. I'll be here every day, just so you know. I love you, baby." I said. I sat in silence with her for a little while, just being with her.
