Cathy's POV

The following day, Alex and I spent our day at the creek, swimming and wading in the water. We came home at around 4 and got ready to go to our new friends' cabin to go to dinner. Once we were dressed and ready, we drove to her cabin, since it was on the other side of the campground, and knocked on the door. The mother answered the door. "Hey guys! Oh wow, I'm so happy you could make it. I'm Marie, that's my husband Barry, and you know the kids, Gaten, Preston and Stephanie. Come, come sit, we're having tuna noodle casserole for dinner, salad and bread rolls on the side!" The mom, Marie, said cheerfully. We sat down and we had a good dinner, we talked and became friends. They said they lived in Iowa, but they were moving to LA (where we live) because all their family were gone except for some who hated them, so they moved to start over, and this was their stop for the kids on the way. They said that's why Gaten was so stressed out, because of the moving process. They said how they'd be going to LA next week, which happened to be the week we were going home, so we made plans to hang out.

Time Skip to next week

Cathy's POV

We had spent that entire week with the family (their last name turned out to be Goraldini). We hung out with them every day for the rest of the time we were there, and grew to love them. When we went home, we agreed to meet up on the 3rd day back (Thursday) so we'd have already settled back into life in LA. I suddenly got a call from Maybrook County Medical Center (A/N: pretend maybrook is a part of Cali pls thanks 😂). Immediately thinking the worst, I answered. "Hello?" I said hesitantly. "Yes, Caterina Griffin?" A man asked on the other line. "This is she," I said. "Ma'am we're sorry to bother you, but you were on the emergency call list and other than the woman's husband, you and your fiancé Alex, were it. But we couldn't call he husband, as he's here and hurt as well." The man explained. He further explained that Marie and Barry had gotten severely and fatally wounded in a car wreck, almost in LA, but still in Maybrook. They were rushed to the hospital. They said the kids were completely okay, but the parents were hurt bad. He said that Marie requested that Alex and I take the kids so they don't have to see their parents suffering. Alex and I rushed to the hospital. God, I hope they're okay....
