Suzy: Okay... I believe most of you were looking forward to this week's topic, right? We'll be discussing "Sex and Gender".

Students: Woohoo!!!

Suzy: You guys do realize that this is not the sex you're all thinking of.

Rows: YES MAAM!

Suzy: Oh good. One out of all of you. Who can tell me the difference between sex and gender?

May mga gustong magtaas ng kamay para humirit ng bastos ngunit yung seryosong mukha ni Corie yung tatawagin ni Miss Suzy.

Corie: Sex refers to the physical differences between males and females as determined by their genes. Like the reproductive organs. While gender is a term that refers to social and cultural differences between males and females.

Suzy: Did you guys understand?

Tatango ang mga students. Pero mukhang hindi pa rin malinaw. Magtataas ng kamay si Rows.

Suzy: Yes?

Rows: Maam, so sex and gender are not the same? Since just because a baby is born male doesn't mean he will identify as a man when he grows up. Tama po ba?

Suzy: Yes... It was much easier to explain before. Sex is determined when a person is born and can not be changed while gender is determined and decided upon by the person and how he or she grows up. Sadly, even sex can be changed now through surgery does making it's existing definition moot.

Rows: So if I'm in love with another girl, does that mean I'm no longer female?

Suzy: It's not as simple as that. What you are referring to is sexual orientation which is a person's emotional and physical attraction to a certain sex. This is where the terms homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, etc... are used. Anyway, I have an activity for you guys. I want everyone here to switch gender roles.

Rows: Eehhh? Ano naman po yung gender roles?

Suzy: Gender role is how society expects men and women to act and behave. So you girls are expected to behave in a feminine way and wear skirts and not go around topless. While the boys here don't wear skirts or bras and are expected to be masculine or manly.

Rows: So we switch? Do us girls have to go topless then?

Suzy: Nothing that extreme. I have permission from the principal and the other teachers and we've laid out a few of the things you both are not allowed to do.

May ipapakita sa screen na listahan ng mga bagay si Miss Suzy tulad ng "Girls are still not allowed in the boys' comfort room, and vice versa." "Cross dressing is allowed as long as it still looks decent and acceptable within the school?"

Corie: So I can just wear a skirt?

Suzy: It's up to you. Until our next meeting which is 3 days from now, I want you girls to think, act and behave like a boy, and then you boys to think, act and behave like a girl. I won't be able to check this every second of the three days but try your best to really see the world from another's perspective. Questions?

Corie: When do we start?

Suzy: As soon as you leave this room... And if you don't have any more questions then you may go.

Suzy: I heard from Sophie that she met you guys. Jisu also mentioned na kinwento na niya sa inyo. I hope we can keep this between us.

Rows: Yup... Don't worry maam. Secret is safe with me.
