The softball pitch was the last trial, and I was feeling... lost.  I'd felt pretty confident about every trial, even though I've only utilised my quirk once so far, and the sprint race only amped up my confidence.

However, Todoroki's words stuck to me, and it bugged me ever since. 'How can a guy that good be so... indifferent, but cold, about his ability?' It just didn't make sense to me. He was absolutely incredible, but he acted like he didn't like it.

As if hated his power.

I turned to my right in the hopes to spot him. He was looking towards the throwing circle where Mr. Aizawa was addressing us. His eyes seemed empty, and that scared me. He wasn't interested in anything, and when I raced him, he didn't even seem to want to be competitive.

'What has Todoroki gone through to be like this? '

Thinking about it, his name sounded familiar. I could've sworn I'd heard it a few times. Was it from the news? Or was it someone I knew? Staring at Todoroki, I knew in the back of my head that I knew where I knew his name from. His partially red hair blew across his left eye, also covering his mark.

His eye...

'It can't be! '

When his hair had settled back into place, I could clearly see his left side more so than his right, and it was like a lightbulb had been turned on. Standing there, stoic and uninterested, he looked just like the Pro Hero Endeavor.

'He's the son of Endeavor,' I realised, my mouth gaping open even further than before.

Enji Todoroki, that was Endeavour's real name. I'd heard it on the news plenty of times before. How had I not realised it earlier? 'I guess that explains his attitude,' I deduced. 'But that doesn't explain his quirk. Maybe I can talk to him afterwards.'

With that conclusion in mind, I decided to turn my attention to Mr. Aizawa. I had to stay focussed or else I might not pass the trial. I had worked hard to make it into UA, I wasn't going to let one measly test kick me out on the first day.

"Alright, let's get this over with. First up: Mina Ashido," Mr. Aizawa announced, and stepped aside, allowing a pink-haired girl with black and yellow eyes to step forward. She also had little yellow horns sticking out of her frizzy hair, which I thought was odd, but still quite cool. 'I remember her! She was the girl who threw acid in the exam. Cool...'

After her throw, we all took our final turn and threw as far as possible. The best, so far, had been Uraraka, who had managed to send the ball to infinity. 'How cool is she?

When it came to my turn, I stepped in, but suddenly felt a million eyes on my back. My nervous energy grew ten-fold and I couldn't seem to focus. Did I mention I had slight stage fright?

I turned around to see my classmates expecting gazes. So many eyes, so many stares. I gulped. Up until now, the trials had been taken in either pairs or with multiple people competing at the same time. 'But now...'

Now, it was just me.

In the midst of all the ogling eyes, there was one pair that caught my attention. The heterochromatic blue and grey eyes of Todoroki. They stared right at me, like they had earlier that morning, but this time I thought I saw something there other than the usual blankness. Was that... reassurance? I didn't know if he intended to or not, but his calming gaze seemed to soothe my once raging nerves.

"Come on, L/N," I heard Mr. Aizawa urged, impatience lacing his tone.

"R-Right." I tore my E/C eyes away from Todoroki's, and made my way into the ring. I brushed away any loose H/C strands of my hair as a took my stance.
