After the Sports Festival concluded, we returned to school, sitting in our classroom as Mr. Aizawa addressed us.
"Nice work," he said, bandages and all still wrapped around him. Although, we could see his eyes now, which made a little less intimidating.
"You have the next two days off of school to recuperate," Mr. Aizawa continued. "I'm sure some of the Pros watching the festival will want to recruit some of you. I will look over the draft forms, and update you when you return."
'That's right.' Not only had we been competing for the top spot in the festival, we also were doing our best to be scouted by a good agency or Pro Hero. I wrung my hands nervously at the thought. 'I know I managed third place, alongside Tokoyami, but did anything I do impress anyone? '
"Get some rest, you still have a lot of training."
"Yes sir."
I picked up my school bag before turning to face Shoto. He still seemed out of it, even after the festival ended - like he was lost in his own head, for some reason.
I sighed deeply. 'And I think I know why.'
"Hey, Shoto," I chirped enthusiastically, trying to gain his attention.
"Hm," He hummed in response, turning his head slightly to face me. I internally face-palmed at his greeting.
'Use your damn words.'
"You wanna walk home together?"
"Sure."
I flashed him a bright smile, quickly grabbing my things, and standing up. I couldn't wait to get home to see my parents. I chuckled at the thought of them, who were probably going to freak out over me and check me a thousand times to see if I was all right.
To be honest, I still felt an immense ache in my shoulder, but the rest of the pain I felt before had begun to fade away after the ceremony. I could walk up stairs better, and I didn't have to use the wall to balance myself. It was a win-win situation, I thought.
Although I was buzzing to get home, Shoto, on the other hand, didn't seem to reciprocate my energy.
The icy-hot boy just sat in his chair, staring at his desk as if it was the most interesting thing he'd ever seen in his life. His school bag laid on the floor beside him, and he made no attempt to move it at all. His hands just remained on the wooden piece of furniture, seemingly frozen. My smile dropped at the sight, concern creasing my brow.
"Shoto?"
No response. Not even a flinch; he just continued to sit there, unmoving with his eyes trained on his desk.
I moved to stand in front of the desk, and bent my knees so that I was lower than Shoto's eyesight. Raising my hands to clasp around his, I felt him jolt at the sudden contact. Shoto finally lifted his eyes, his heterochromatic orbs finding my comforting, E/C ones.
"That desk must be pretty interesting, huh?" I stifled another chuckle as an obvious red hue flared upon his cheeks. Shoto averted his eyes away from mine, but I was happy at the fact that he didn't pull his hands away.
By now, everyone had emptied out of the classroom, including Mr. Aizawa. It was just us two, sitting in the silent classroom, holding onto each other. If someone were to walk in, I would probably die from the seemingly compromising situation we both were in. However...
'This is for him. Shoto's my friend, and I won't let him suffer alone.'
I squeezed his hands tightly between mine, even though they were slightly bigger than mine.
