"Don't say another word another word against her. No one is a monster here, but if anyone was, she would be the last person you call that."
Shoto stood stoic as always, his grip firm, and his head defiant as he stared down the Class B students. No fear; he showed no fear in what he was doing, and that thought alone brought warmth to me. My eyes widened with shock, staring up at the back of his head.
"Shoto..." I muttered. What was he doing? What was he thinking?
A scuffle of feet drew my attention elsewhere, and I found myself stunned again to see Ochaco, Midoriya and Iida also step forward.
"He's right," Midoriya said. "L/N clearly didn't mean to do what she did, and she's apologised. What more could you want from her?"
"Pointing blame at people is not very heroic. You should apologise, at once," Iida added, folding his arms across his broad chest. Ochaco hummed in agreement, folding her arms, too.
The Class B boy scoffed. "What gives you the right to say that, huh? Monoma was right: you guys do think you're better than us."
"That's not true," Momo called, stepping forward to the other side of me. "We just don't believe your accusations are justified. That's all."
"Your friend there tried killing Monoma for saying the truth. I think my accusations are rightly justified, sorry to say."
"That's where you're wrong, you damn extra."
The air grew tense as Bakugou of all people stepped forward, even going so far as to keep walking over to where Class B stood. The raw, intense energy he was giving off had me slightly terrified, but I didn't have the gaul to say anything anymore. Not right now.
Bakugou reached the Class B boy, and leaned in close to him. "You wanna see someone lose their temper? I'll give you that." His fingers sparked, and I was scared he would actually set the boy alight. But he didn't; instead, he stepped back, and turned to walk away. Looking between Bakugou and the boy, I could tell why he did so: he was utterly terrified.
"Next time you wanna throw around the word monster," Bakugou said, returning to the group, "look at yourself first before accusing anyone else. You hear me?"
"Yeah!" Mina called, and then so did Kaminari, and Kirishima, and Tsu and Kyoka, and everyone else. They all stepped out from behind me, so that they stood between me and Class B, acting as physical barriers. Looking at all of them, I realised that they were protecting me, standing up for me. My heart swelled as they stood defiant, eyes dead straight and bodies unwavering in the face of our rival class.
'They care for me,' I thought, letting more tears slip out. 'They're standing up for me, even if what I did was horrible.'
They weren't scared of me, but instead were defending me. I never thought it was possible to feel so many emotions at once - pride, hurt, grateful, sad - but that's exactly how I felt. And all because of my friends.
"That's enough!" Mr. Aizawa cried, standing in between the unspoken battle that had been initiated. "Class A, move out. You're dismissed."
"So you're just going to let her and them off the hook, Mr. Aizawa?" one Class B student asked.
"She said she was sorry!" Shoto snapped back. "It was an accident, not that anyone would've minded if she'd-"
I gripped tighter onto Shoto's hand, causing him to flinch and halt mid sentence. "Shoto..." I muttered, head bowed low. "Don't..."
I didn't want to think about what would've happened if I'd finished what I'd started. I didn't want to think what kind of repercussions that would've entailed. 'It was an accident. It was an accident...'
