Shoto's figure blurred as tears dripped down my cheeks, but I could still see him. 'He's here,' I thought, gaping like a stunned mullet at the icy-hot boy. It was really him, it wasn't a trick...

My legs felt detached from my body as they took me towards him, a primal instinct forcing them to move. Shoto rushed forwards, too, hands stretched out to meet my own as I collapsed in his arms, face pressing up against his chest. His hands held me close, holding me so tightly I thought I heard my bones creak under the pressure.

"Y/N..." Shoto muttered, his breath tickling my ear as he held me closer. "You're okay. You're okay!"

"Shoto..." I breathed out, clinging to his shirt tighter. "You came. You really came..."

Shoto's grip on me loosened, and I stood back to look up at my heterochromatic-haired friend. He wore a black vest over a white, long-sleeved button up shirt and dark pants. A chain hung loosely in the space his shirt provided, the top few buttons undone to create a prominent V. Overall, he looked quite grown-up, which seemed weird.

His grip on my arms tightened, drawing my attention back to him.

"Of course I did. But you sure you're okay?" he asked, bi-coloured eyes flicking over me. "Did those villain scum do anything to you?"

I shook my head, squeezing his arms in return. "I'm fine, Shoto. Really. I mean, I have a few scrapes and bruises, but it's nothing I can't handle."

"Y/N..."

"I promise, I'm fine, Shoto. Shoto...?"

To my surprise, Shoto's eyes sparkled with unshed tears as he looked down at me, a slight tremble in his grip. He looked so... scared, yet relieved? His aura was strong, but it was hard to discern what he was actually feeling. So many emotions raged through him, that I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was. Whatever it was, that didn't change the fact that Shoto was crying. Full on crying.

"I... I..."

He couldn't finish as he pulled me back into his chest. That startled me, but I managed to weave my arms around his broad back, tugging on the silky material of his vest. No sobs escaped him, but I could tell from his erratic breathing he was holding them back. Whether for my sake or another, I didn't know. All I knew was that his tears were dripping onto my shoulder, and that I didn't want to let go of him. Ever.

From how tight he was holding me, I figured he felt the same.

"You don't need to say anything, Shoto," I whispered. "I understand."

Looking over his shoulder, my eyes landed on the other silhouette that had rounded the corner with Shoto. The girl. In the darkness, I could see she wore a pink sundress that flared out at her hips. A golden necklace dangled around her slender neck, contrasting the pale skin beneath it. Strands of raven locks framed her face, but billowed out behind her in a funky ponytail.

My eyes widened and my breath hitched as her face came into focus. "Momo?"

Said girl smiled, sending a small wave my way.

"Oh, Y/N, I'm so happy you're okay," she said, stepping closer.

"Momo!" Retracting out of Shoto's embrace, I ran to my friend, wrapping my arms around her shoulders so as to hug her closer. More tears spilled as I cried, "You came, too?!"

"Of course I did," she chuckled, rubbing her hands up and down my back. "You really thought we wouldn't come for you?"

Silence wrapped around us as I didn't respond, letting the weight of her words think in.
