Running through the rain and wind was a cinch; the villains I encountered, however, were not. Fortunately, they only came in pairs, so I didn't have to take on too many at once.
"Agh!" I blasted one guy into a building, his cry swallowed by the howling winds around us.
'How many villains are there? ' I thought as I restrained him and his comrade. 'If I've encountered this many just in one area of the USJ, I can't imagine what the others are facing.'
Tightly tying up the villains with an energy band, I took off, again, for the USJ centre. Soon enough, I reached the edge of the area, and I was met with bright sunlight shining through the roof. I closed my eyes briefly, not used to the sudden brightness. I blinked a few times to steady myself once more.
"Okay," I muttered, scanning my surroundings. "Where would be the best point to get everyone to... Aha!"
My sight fell on the open area in the exact middle of the USJ. It was nothing but flat ground and open space, and not a villain in sight.
"Perfect," I smirked, starting to climb my way down the set of stairs in front of me.
'However, since it is open, I need to be quick,' I thought, sprinting down the steps. 'As soon as I get to the ground, I'll break for it, and shoot an energy beam directly up. Hopefully a few seconds should be enough to draw everyone's attention to the centre, and get the message to congregate there. There may be villains waiting for me down there, so it's a risky move, but one I've gotta take if my classmates and I are to get out of here.'
At the bottom, I spotted some bushes, and decided to hide in there for a moment. Finally reaching them, I dove in, making sure I was fully covered by them before breathing steadily.
"Okay, Y/N," I whispered to myself, catching my breath. "You know what you have to do, so just do it."
I spied outside of the bushes, making sure that the coast was still clear. I did find it strange how there was not a single person in sight. 'That portal guy must've spread out all of the villains, too,' I reasoned, as I ducked back into the bushes. 'They split us up, knowing we'd be stronger together, and then sent those brutes after us all. Trying to pick us off one by one...'
I clenched my fists, focussing my energy flow into one spot. 'Forget that, now. I have a job to do, and I won't let any doubt stop me.'
Taking three deep breaths - as if they signified a silent countdown - I took off as fast as I could, continuing to focus the stored energy within my body. The sunlight above was helping a great deal, but I knew that after the blast, I'd be weak for a while.
'This better work.'
In no time, I'd reached the middle, and without anymore hesitation, I raised both hands and a white light consumed my whole body. I could feel every part of me pumping with adrenaline, and the white light just became even brighter until I was a beacon of pure energy.
"I'm here!" I cried, and a pillar of pure energy soared out of me and straight up. It grew and grew, until it hit the ceiling of the USJ, and burst through the glass to the outside world. I felt as if I was on fire; as if I was fire.
However, as amazing as I felt for that split second, I suddenly felt a huge wave of nausea crash over me. 'No,' I demanded my body to maintain the pillar. 'Not yet. Just... a few more... seconds! '
I suddenly felt empty, and the pillar shrank back down until not a single flicker of white light shone. I collapsed to the ground, exhausted and feeling the need to throw up my lunch and breakfast.
