Midoriya held Eri close to him, both of them panting where they laid. I allowed myself to relax at the sight, but kept my hands firmly on Nighteye.
"It's over," Ochaco breathed out, hands still holding Overhaul down.
"Thank goodness," came a soft, familiar voice.
It was then that I finally took notice of the other presences beside Tsu and Mr. Aizawa. I'd been too focussed before on Eri and Midoriya to really rake notice of them before; but now I could see them clear as day.
"Tamaki..." I murmured, tears forming to my eyes. "And Togata... You're okay!"
Well, okay was really a poor word to use considering both of the third years' states: one of Tamaki's eyes was sealed shut and bruised, and Togata was out cold lying in his arms. But I could see the small rise and fall of the blond's chest, meaning he was at least alive. They both were.
Thank goodness.
A heavier weight suddenly fell on me, and so I looked down to see Nighteye resting against me. With his eyes closed. And barely breathing.
"Nighteye?" I said, giving the man a gentle shake. No response. "Nighteye!"
"Eri's not responding, either," Midoriya said, his hand pressed against the silver-haired girl's forehead. "She's burning up."
"Get both of them to an ambulance," Mr. Aizawa instructed, now standing with Tsu's help. "Uravity, you help them, too. Everyone else, find and apprehend the remaining Shie Hassaikai members."
I nodded, pulling Nighteye back onto the concrete slab again as Ochaco came over. Midoriya was already zooming back down the street and around the corner, the sound of sirens echoing the in the distance. With a simple touch, we were floating again. Ochaco, grabbed ahold of the concrete slab and started pushing us on our way.
Although the siren sounds became louder, each second that passed felt like we were wasting precious time. The longer we took getting to the ambulance, the further Nighteye slipped away from us. From me.
"...I'm not going to let him die. I promise."
"Come on," I murmured, sending an energy surge through him. "Come on!"
Tears flowed down my face now as he still didn't respond; not the slightest twitch of a finger, or a sound escaping his mouth. Crap.
No, I wouldn't let him die. Not when so many people cared for him. Not when he had to take care of Togata and Bubble Girl and Centipeder and Midoriya. Not when we'd just gotten Eri away from danger. Not when we'd won.
Ochaco suddenly pulled us to a stop, and I was immediately hopping off the platform and wrapping my arms under Nighteye. "Over here! We need serious medical attention!"
Police officers came running over, taking the unconscious man out of my arms and over to the Hassaikai entrance.
The whole area was a mess. Police cars surrounded the area, their sirens blaring and their red and blue lights flashing bright. Broken buildings and parts of the road laid scattered everywhere; and in amongst it all were tied up yakuza members.
A heavy weight fell back on my shoulders, this time falling down onto my heart, too. We'd won, but at what cost?
Ochaco and I followed close behind the officers with Nighteye, running through the main entrance of the Hassaikai headquarters to the courtyard. There, they laid him on his side and placed a blanket over him, covering up the spike. His chest was barely rising, now.
