Midoriya and I ran together, Midoriya holding the boy while I made sure the path was clear. Both of us were running as fast as we could, a soft white aura surrounding me to enhance my speed, whilst Midoriya's green lightning flickered all over him. I used energy walls to push debris out of the way, cementing a direct path from where we were to the outer rims of the demolished city.
"We're almost to a safe space," Midoriya said to the still crying child. "Don't you worry."
Sure enough, we hit a flat dirt area - the only spare space beside the surrounding walls of the arena, it seemed.
"Look," I said, pointing ahead. "There's the first aid station. Let's go."
"Right."
The first aid station was nothing fancy, only being made up of some wooden floor boards and a white flag pegged out the front. Already there were quite a lot of injured people scattered around the area, other examinees having a look over them. Students were rushing in with people and then rushing back out, leaving them to the designated medics of the examinees.
As we approached the area, one of the students turned to us: a girl with strawberry-blonde hair held back by a white headband, a short, lilac dress and white gloves. Her dress was also pinched in at the waist by a thick purple band with a brown bow at the back, paired with brown knee-high boots.
"You, there," she called, standing up from her crouched position beside another injured person. "Let me see that boy."
"Yeah, of course," my green-haired classmate said, placing the H.U.C actor on his feet. "His head got hurt somehow. He's bleeding quite a bit, but his wounds don't look very deep. He responds to questions clearly."
The girl poked and prodded at the boy for a moment, making me slightly uncomfortable. I knew she had to examine him and see if he was injured anywhere specifically, but I sure as hell wouldn't be letting someone touch me willy nilly like that. Especially if they were poking around my eyes like she was doing to him, right now.
"Hm." The girl looked back up at us, pointing to her right, our left. "He should be fine. Take him to the space over there on the right."
"Yes ma'am," we both answered, nodding as she stood up to leave.
"I'll take care of him, Midoriya," I said, taking the injured boy's hand in mine. "I'll stay here and help out anyway that I can, but you should go help the others. They'll be needing you out there with your quirk."
He nodded, looking between me and the boy. "All right. If you say so. Don't worry, I'll make sure we save as many people as possible."
"I have no doubt that you will. And remember: do it with a smile on your face!"
We both laughed at that, but were suddenly cut off when a subtle tremor shook the earth. I crouched low to cradle the boy, pulling him close out of caution. What the hell was happening, now? Was this Shindo's doing like in the first half of the exam? Why was there an earthquake happening?
My questions were answered in the form of an explosion, sending out another shockwave that knocked down more buildings and sent us all falling to our knees. It came from just over a pile of fallen buildings not too far from where we were set up, coming from another edge of the arena.
"What happened?" Midoriya asked, but I couldn't answer him. I was too distracted by the other explosions happening around the arena. Although I couldn't see all of them, more were occurring in the destroyed metropolitan area so I could only imagine that more were happening elsewhere. I could also feel the energy exploding from them for just a moment, bursting and then reducing to nothing once more.
