I ran down the hallway Fat Gum, Kirishima and the others had gone down before, my heavy pants echoing through the otherwise silent corridors. There were no signs of of life anywhere, except for the fading trail of mixed auras left for me to follow.
The image of Tamaki lying against the wall all bloodied and beaten still haunted my mind. He'd told me he would be okay, but crap; what if I made the wrong decision in listening to him? He could be unconscious by now, or loosing blood.
"Please. Just go help the others find Eri. Help... Mirio..."
Pumping my legs harder, I forced myself to keep running forward. No, I promised Tamaki I would go help Mirio and Eri, and that was what I was going to do. If I didn't, then all that Tamaki just did would be for nothing.
So, I kept running, eyes solely trained on what waited me down the hallway. "Come on, where are you guys... Huh?!"
My feet stuck to the floor as I rounded another corner, finding the walls all twisted and morphed. It was like the nightmare we'd been in upstairs, with concrete sticking out all over the place. A giant pillar of cement and rock cut right across the hallway, and looked to have burrowed into the opposite wall. There were scuff marks all over the floor, and broken pieces of rubble lay on the ground, too.
"Must've been a fight here, too," I muttered, stepping under the giant rock pillar. "I better hurry and find the others."
However, I paused as I passed the pillar, feeling a sense of loss hanging over me. Ahead of me, the amount of energy signatures were less than before. In fact, two energy signatures were missing altogether, having stopped back at where the pillar cut through the wall.
My stomach dropped. "Fat Gum. Kirishima."
There was no mistaking their auras - bright orange and deep, fiery red blazing into the wall. I placed my hand of the wall beside the pillar and sensed a giant hole tunnelling deep into the sub basement of the building. It was way too deep to tell where exactly they were, but I could only assume they were still together.
"Please. Just go help the others find Eri. Help... Mirio..."
As much as every fibre in my body wanted to go after my mentor and partner, I forced myself to step away and get moving down the corridor again. "I'm sorry, guys. Just please be safe."
Faster. Faster. Faster.
The further I ran down the corridor, the more twisted and narrow it became. But, like before, it was frozen into a twisted state, no sign of movement anywhere. At least I knew I was on the right track. Iranaka wouldn't have morphed this area unless the others had come down this way. And unless it also lead to Eri.
Boom
I halted my footsteps as the ground shook, clinging onto the wall until the shaking subsided. What the hell was happening now?
"SMASH!"
Boom
"Midoriya?" I muttered, pushing myself off the wall to run forwards again. It had been very faint, but there was only one kid I knew that said that in such a high pitched cry.
The energy signatures from before suddenly felt stronger, and so I pushed myself to run faster. It had to be them, but what were they doing? Were they still under attack?
Another boom sounded, echoing louder than the ones before and sending out tremors that had me stumbling as I rounded one last corner. I stopped in pure shock at the sight before me: the small group of police officers standing behind the sergeant, Mr. Aizawa, Rock Lock and Sir Nighteye. And way up the front flew a green streak of lightning that was flashing towards an oncoming barrage of stone pillars.
