"Everyone," Midorya cried to our class. "Stay close together. We'll fight them as a group!"
Looking around, the other students were running away from the centre, heading towards different areas of the exam field to start the first test. They obviously had the same idea that Midoriya had: if the first people to finish won, then no one would go after their classmates. If we were thinking alike, then Midoriya had the best plan: stick together, fight together, and win together.
"Right," Iida said, eliciting other murmurs and nods of agreement. Seemed as though everyone was in agreem-
"Yeah right," Bakugou retorted, staunching away from us. "This isn't a field trip!"
"Idiot! Wait up," Kirishima called after him, following the ash-blond boy.
"Kaachan," Midoriya called out, but was blatantly ignored.
"Kirishima," Iida attempted, however was given no response from the two knuckleheads.
I released a sigh. Seriously, what in those tiny brains of theirs made them think that going off on their own was okay? Honestly, I would've thought Kirishima knew better, and that - after all we'd gone through together - Bakugou knew better , as well. Seems as though I was sorely mistaken.
"I'm going on my own, too."
I flinched at that, feeling the colour drain from my face and my eyes widened as they landed on my heterochromatic friend - correction: boyfriend.
"It's hard to use my powers safely when a big group's around," Shoto said, about to take off in a jog away from the group. Just like Bakugou.
Without thinking, I found myself gripping onto his wrist tightly, holding onto his new wrist guards like my life depended on it. I wasn't sure if mine did right now, but I knew that his did.
"Shoto," I said, pulling him back to face me. "What do you think you're doing?! Do you want to fail this?"
"I told you," he replied with a straight face. "I can't use my quirk to its fullest potential if I'm surrounded by people. You could get hurt."
I rolled my eyes, groaned exasperatedly. "That's such a lame excuse, Shoto, and we both know it. Of course we're gonna get hurt! What else did you expect from today? We're here to fight for our places amongst the best of the best, but that's not going to happen without a fight and if we fight alone. Now stop being an idiot and let's go!"
Shoto remained quiet for a moment, his gaze flicking between me and the others behind me. It seemed as though he was actually contemplating my words, and I smiled slightly at that. However, it immediately dropped when he started shaking his head.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," he said, squeezing my hand tightly, "but I can't. I have to do this." Pulling me in for a quick hug, he planted a quick kiss to my forehead. "If you really miss me, just come find me." And with that, Shoto was off, sprinting away from us without looking back, and leaving me a blushing, flustered mess.
"W-What?! Huh? G-Get back here, Shoto Todoroki! I wasn't done talking to you, mister!" Stomping my foot, I huffed, crossing my arms and narrowing my eyes in on my lone wolf of a boyfriend. That's right, boyfriend - not sure when I would get used to that, but I certainly liked the ring it held.
He ignored my pleas, and so I let out another huff before turning to face the group again, mumbling, "Stupid icy-hot..."
"Todoroki!" Midoriya called, but the red-and-white-haired boy didn't listen to him, either. He only kept running, heading towards the factory-styled area.
