Walking back into the change rooms, the rest of my class stared at me striding towards where I was sitting with the girls. I made the effort to look indifferent to the whole situation, but the faint redness around my eyes told everyone otherwise.

"Are you okay, Y/N?" Mina asked, as she, too, joined us from somewhere else.

'Probably got lost, too,' I figured.

"Yeah," Tsu piped up as I sat down between Momo and Ochaco, "it looks as though you've been cryin-"

"I'm fine, thank you very much!" I blurted out, rather harshly once the words came out. My friends visibly stiffened at my sudden rudeness, and I heaved a frustrated sigh.

"Sorry, girls," I muttered, closing my eyes and slumping my shoulders. "That's not what I meant."

"We understand, Y/N," Momo patted me on the back, giving me a bright smile, to which I returned with one of my own. "Boys can be complicated, am I right ladies?"

A unanimous hum of agreement resounded throughout them, before it was filled with loud and obnoxious laughs and giggles.

'They really are the best,' I thought as they continued to laugh and joke with one another. 'Who needs Todoroki when I have these guys? '

However, just the thought of the heterochromatic-eyed boy made my heart widen with emptiness

'I can't just replace him like that, there's no way.'

Even though he'd made it quite clear he didn't want any ties to anyone, I could only think of the times we'd had together so far. Although short, Todoroki and I had shared a lot. And although he was the extremely quiet type, he never had to say much to connect with me. Sure, he was cold to begin with, but I thought he'd warmed up to me.

'I guess I thought wrong,' I resolved to myself, as an irritatingly loud voice screamed over the speakers.

"First year students of UA High!" Present Mic announced. "Please make your way up to the centre stage of the arena, so that the fun can begin!"

My heart was beating so hard, I thought it would burst out of my chest at any moment. It did not, but my palms were sweaty and my blood was pumping as I stepped up to the starting line.

It had been decided by a wheel of fortune - how professional - to start the tournament with an obstacle course; It would be filled with many trials we had to overcome with our powers. Sounded simple enough, but I highly doubted it would be. I looked to my left, and to my right, and I didn't see competition, only my friends.

"We're not here to be each other's friends."

Todoroki's words floated through my mind once more. Shaking my head, I steeled my glance at the narrow and confining tunnel up ahead. I gulped.

'It looks a bit small, and with all these people...' I couldn't help but become more nervous as my claustrophobia started to take over.

'Stop looking at it and it'll go away,' I reasoned with myself, so I looked to my right, only to regret it instantly. My scared, E/C eyes locked onto the heterochromatic blue and grey eyes of Todoroki, who only seemed to stare right back at me.

We'd connected, once again, straight away. Like he had sought me out or something...

His face morphed from boredom to what seemed like worry, but I didn't let myself think about it too much.
