"And now, Midnight will spin the wheel of fortune again," Present Mic declared rather excitedly. "What will the next c-RAAAZZY event be for these first timers? Oh, I'm so excited, my head could EXPLODE!"
"Shut up, loud mouth," Mr. Aizawa's voice echoed over the loud speaker, obviously irritated beyond belief.
I chuckled at the thought of my teacher - the laziest and chilled out person ever, and still wrapped up in layers of bandages - being stuck in a room with the most obnoxious superhero there ever was.
'Well,' I thought, scrunching my nose up with amusement, 'if you don't count All Might, that is.'
Midnight spun the wheel of doom again, and some enough, it had landed on...
"Cavalry battle?" I muttered under my breath, completely confused. "What does that mean?" I didn't have to wait long for my question to be answered.
"Cavalry battle," Midnight started, an all-too eager smile on her face, "is a battle of teams. The forty-two students that just qualified for this next obstacle must form teams of a maximum of four people. There must be one rider-"
She paused to point at the giant media screen above her. A picture of All Might appeared, positioned as if he were sitting on something.
'Or someone...' I thought, a little worried that my hunch was going to be right.
"And at least one horse-"
Another hero appeared on the screen with All Might. Unfortunately, they weren't standing beside the World's No. 1 Hero. Instead, they were being sat upon by him. And that poor hero was Thirteen.
I sweat-dropped. 'Why did I know that was coming? '
However, those weren't the only rules.
"So far, it's pretty standard, right?" Midnight continued, her smile broadening into a sinister one. "But to make this a real battle, there must be something to fight for. So, let me explain the Cavalry Battle's point system to you all:
"After concluding the race, each student was given a number, which represents their point value in this game. These values depend on where they placed in the preliminaries. For example: the forty-second placed student is worth five points, and another five points is added on to every higher position after that."
"Sounds simple enough, right?" I mumbled to Midoriya standing next to me, chuckling nervously, suddenly feeling very jittery all over shop.
'If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought I was turning my nervous energy into real energy! ' I thought the game seemed simple; how wrong I was.
"However..." Midnight licked her lips with delicious anticipation, "first place is valued at one-hundred million points!"
Every student - even myself - froze solid and fell silent, even as the crowd gasped and shouted with surprise. I could feel Midoriya tense up next to me, so I looked at him, but I wasn't the only one who was.
It seemed as though all of the other students had locked eyes onto the green-haired boy, but their eyes weren't clouded with shock for long. Their stares turned into glares, and soon enough, forty students were looking at Midoriya as if he was their next meal.
It was terrifying, to say the least.
'With all of those people staring at him - including some who are his friends - I would be trembling, too.'
Midnight continued with the rules, but I wasn't really listening. Midoriya looked so scared, and it hurt me to see my friend in that state. Instinctively, I grabbed his hand, squeezing his trembling palm in order to bring some comfort. The green-haired boy turned to look at me, still shaking with all of fear he felt.
