No one made a move as the five of us stood off against the beast mere metres away. It wasn't that we were scared - although that was probably half a lie. We just couldn't rush this. One mistake of our carefully, calculated plan could mess everything up. So, we had to be patient; and wait for our moment to strike.
"You ready, Tsu?" I whispered to my frog-like friend beside me.
She crouched low into the ground, her body almost parallel to it. The tips of her fingers began to disappear, her camouflage activating to blend in with our surroundings. "Ribbit," she said. "Ready as I'll ever be."
Then she completely disappeared from my sight. My friends on my other side didn't acknowledge her disappearance, keeping straight faces and intense eye contact with the villain. Kirishima and Iida didn't even flinch when a thin, sticky substance was lathered onto their arms and legs respectively. I felt the same substance drip down my own arm, coating my entire hand. I had to admit, it was pretty damn gross. But I guess I could deal with it if it would win us the fight.
Although perplexed at our teammate's disappearance, the villain gave no other signs he saw what Tsu'd done. Good.
"Let's go, team!" Iida announced, his engines sparking to life once more and propelling him towards the villain.
Hybrid-man grinned wickedly at my incoming friend, opening his jaws and letting out a fiery blast towards him. Iida jumped out of the way, managing to slam his leg down onto the villain's arm that he raised in self-defence. "Weak," Hybrid-man spat, grabbing hold of Iida's leg and throwing him to the side like some unwanted toy.
Kirishima took the next run, his arms hardening more than ever before. "Red Guantlet!" He cried, slamming his fist into the villain's other arm, causing blue feathers to fall to the ground.
"Ha! That tickles." Hybrid-man's smile turned sinister as he grabbed the back of Kirishima's head. With the ferocious strength of a true beast, he threw my classmate into the rock wall by one of the waterfalls, the impact of the collision breaking off some loose rocks around him.
Shoto stepped in then, sending a raging pillar of fire at the villain with gritted teeth and a fierce gaze following it. The villain threw his hands up with such force that a wind torrent blew away the flames, fanning them out right before they could even reach him. The flames died down, his smug sneer visible once more. Gosh, I hated this guy.
Racing forward, my fist ignited with white energy, glowing brighter and more powerful as I drew nearer to my enemy. "Mininova!" I cried, throwing my fist at his gut and forcing my energy into him. I was stunned to be met with rock-hard abs, barely even twitching as my energy faded away. I looked up at him in slight annoyance. "Seriously?"
Hybrid-man cocked his eyebrow as he looked down at me, the smugness never leaving his lips. "What? Thought that was going to affect me?" I cried out as he gripped my forearm and threw me back at Shoto's feet. "It's going to take a lot more than a weak punch like yours to stop me!"
Loose rocks scratched at my skin and suit, and dirt covered me from head to toe. But I stood up; I crawled to me knees and then pushed myself until I stood on my own two feet again. This wasn't over. I wasn't done, yet. "Let's keep it going," I said.
"Right," Shoto said. "Iida!"
"Stop getting distracted and look at me!" My Class Rep came flying at the villain again, his glasses having long been thrown off and discarded on the rocks somewhere. With the same leg, he swung at the beast again, using it as leverage to push off out of his reach. Kirishima came rushing in after Iida, slamming his fist into the villain's arm again before running out of his range. Diving under a swinging arm, I, too, slammed my energy-ignited fist into his stomach again. I bit back a pain-filled cry as I heard my fingers slightly crunch against his iron abs, focussing then on turning and running out of the villain's range.
